Where do we deserve to be? Historically that would be the second tier, probably the lower half. Based on attendance and finances, probably lower Championship/upper League One. Or are you hoping they finance a Premier League push? Because all that happens then is we end up the next Wigan or Reading when they get bored. To be honest, I'd much rather we tried to be self sufficient than risk losing the club for 5 seasons of excess.
Not much in it with the voting. After the season we've just had you'd think the board would be trusted more than they are.
Christ no, would not want that. And yes I trust them. Do I think they are competent? Let's wait and see... but trust isn't an issue for me with them. I believe they have the Club's best interests at heart.
I do , I feel they’re good people, but also just feel like they’re trying to push water up a hill it’s an almost impossible task and can be pretty dispiriting when you’re emotionally invested we are losing money hand over fist and if we get the wage bill to a manageable level we will not be competitive
Not entirely sure what people’s problem with the current board is. Put in a load of money this year to keep us afloat. Offered duff a better contract to stay. Seems about as good as we could ask for. People bang on about sustainability but then don’t like what it looks like (and even this isn’t sustainable).
We were a whisker away from going straight back up, we offered Duff new terms and it was always on cards Mads was going to leave. The board pumped 6 million in last year to keep us going. I trust the board but I don't trust.some of our 'fans' to ever stop moaning.
I trust the board as it’s currently constituted. I do not trust the owners. I am also aware that the board composition can change at a whim.
Just to be clear, there are a lot of comments on here about self sustaining. The club are losing around £4m - £5m a year in league one. A lot needs to change for the club to be self sustaining. This year may well be a reset for the club which would mean a significant reduction in the payroll to reflect the reduction in central distribution from being a league one club. Our Board may be decent people but it still doesn’t mean the club will be successful.
But he didn't sign!! They offered it too early/late!! It wasn't enough money/still had release clauses/forced him to play a minimum of 4 from the u11s team/refused to move Oakwell to within an hour of Cheltenham/insert your own random clause
I find the question a little misleading. The results at mo do not reflect the posts feedback. Saying No based on trust (as if in line with conway) is quite an accusation. Not one person has actually posted No and given a reason. I can see where the op is coming from. But maybe a confidence vote in taking us forward would be more apt. Given the replies so far. There is certainly a more genial atmosphere around the staff and Directors than when Conway was at the helm. khaled imo is a more open person and willing to take any question thrown at him than any CEO before him. Some are frankly impossible to answer. Trust I'd say yes.
I struggled voting and really I'm somewhat in the middle personally. I do trust that they are trying and that they do care about the club. They are putting money in and want the club to do well. However, I am not sure I trust the philosophy they have. We often take 2 steps forward and then several back. They looked to have made big strides forward with Duff taking a manager from the league we were in that had experience of promotion in the EFL. We now seem to be going complete 180 and aiming for managers with absolutely no experience of the EFL, that don't play a back 3 and wants to play a passing out from the back style which isn't us. Obviously it might not be that guy that gets it but they shouldn't be considered if they don't fit our style and ethos. Any club should have a blueprint in mind and any recruitment should fit that blueprint. Changing the style and blueprint all the time is where things go wrong imo. I don't fully trust they have a plan fully thought out and that's what worries me.
