Can you please explain to me which managerial credentials Redfearn has to warrant the top job at Oakwell, over a bloke who's qualified for Europe in both of the last two seasons?

What’s the point mate? People going on about League One like it’s the Champions League. Like you need to “know the league” to coach a football team. That the reason some fans know more than people whose job it is, and whose money is invested in the club, about who we should and shouldn’t appoint as manager.
    it’s getting me down now.
You don’t have to be a happy clapper to be willing to give the club, the board, any new coaches or players a chance. If it all goes tits up come back and say “I told you so” just don’t be a naysayer from the off.

Good point...Redfearn hasn't proved himself as a manager...he's good with youth...but a fans fav when we want a positive outcome from losing duff and mads...I agree with you

Stendel was a nobody from Germany, Redfearn has proven to be a nobody in managerial terms, and Devaney is a nobody full stop.
Nobody knows if this Irish guy will prove to be a success but based on all available evidence he stands a far greater chance than any of the names you mention.

Let's get facts straight about this 'qualified for Europe in two consecutive seasons'.

Derry were spanked 4-0 in the first preliminary qualifying round of the Europa Conference league this season just finished. They're in at the same stage next season.

So Higgins has all of one game in a European qualifier that's the equivalent of the Papa John's group stage compared to Europa/Champions League.

Yes, except you actually have to qualify for the European competition by finishing very high in your domestic league.

Granted, but this is the 10 team League of Ireland.

Any English National League team would be challenging for a European place.

And you can only work with the squad you’ve got, in the league you are in…

Other than managing egos, why would a good coach in one league not be a good coach in a higher league?

I mean... The last you could do to try and convince him to come back is spell his name right, surely?

I mentioned earlier today in the other thread that I’ve been led to believe he isn’t in the running.

    Many reasons.

    1. The level of opposition posing tougher challenges. Coming up against better players, tacticians, higher levels of fitness and preparation. Mistakes being punished more.

    2. Different demands of intensity and the specifics of how games play out at different levels. ie what you can realistically ask your players to do given the game situations they are likely to be in.

    3. Greater pressures of bigger crowds, tougher away visits in terms of atmosphere and distance travelled.

    4. Standard and quality of players a coach is working with. Understanding of how to get the best out of a footballer of a certain level of ability.

Not in Ireland. 40% of the league qualify.

If that's the qualifying criteria why not appoint Toby Tyke.

In Ireland you enter the local meat raffle and the consolation prize is qualification for the Europa Conference League qualifiers whether you like it or not.

And also when you throw up after a horrible few pints of guinless, that means your over qualified to play for the Rep Oirland team. Just ask Clinton Morrison. :D

Probably the main reason I don't want Higgins is the absolute car crash of spellings of his first name we're going to get. We never even really got a handle on Oduor, and that's got far fewer letters to grapple with.
