Well that meeting wasn’t even leaked yet Khaled says it wasn’t a secret , anyone could contact the club to ask to attend? so how do you do that if you don’t even know it’s happening? Select few yet again poor showing
It was a fan engagement meeting. Representatives of each of the fan groups are in attendance, Various YouTUbe podcast reps have also been invited in recent years. There’s no secret. They’ve been running for the last 9 years. I’ve posted updates from them on here regularly in the past (was in London for work today unfortunately). They usually happen a couple of times a season. If you feel like you aren’t represented though, contact the club. There’s nothing secret going on though. Also, its clearly been reported on Facebook/Twitter pretty much all that was said so it’s hardly secretive.
No point in explaining it, Gally. They just refuse to accept anything other than their own narrow-minded agenda. Fans can't wait to be slagging club off for anything & everything. Bit weird.
While we’re at it, any chance we could ban the phrase “happy clappers” it’s just passive aggressive ******** like “woke” and “snow flake” designed to suggest that anyone who doesn’t have the same view on something must be at the opposite end of the spectrum on any particular topic. In reality there’s usually 60/70% of relatively balanced people some where in between the two polar opposites with a more nuanced and reasoned view on something.
I didn’t know you were bothered about attending meetings like that Judd. Next time there’s one, if I’m asked to attend I’ll give you a nudge and come along. There’s no funny business going on. Roy was there was was Linz. Ask them mate.
I saw no mention of it anywhere so it’s not publicised is it ?, very surprised wasn’t mentioned on here
I just think with what’s going off or rather what’s not at the minute ( all perceived granted ), it would have at least had a mention so people could ask some burning questions.
Oh bore off whats narrow minded about having an opinion on a meeting that appears to have been kept from the public domain ? Keep worshiping Khaled’s poster on your wall.
I honestly don't get it. If I had such distain for something, I'd walk away and get a new hobby. It really is that simple.
I think what the point being made was (and I've seen the same comments in other places) is that these meetings normally have a post on here, twitter and everywhere else way upfront that a meeting was scheduled. Forward any questions etc. It appears (and I can't find anything to the contrary) this didn't happen this time and nobody apart from those usually notified/attend knew about it, until funnyfella posted on twitter he will put out updates. Which appeared to be more or less at the start of the meeting (That was the impression and first reference I could find anyway) Given the current feelings/comments flying around, I'm not surprised to see such comments. If this is a meeting that's open to all and all that is required is to contact "someone" to add your name to the Comms/invite list, then that's all that needed to be said previously. And those who want to go have a choice to add their names or not and no further ill feeling can come of it.
Exactly. It definitely isn’t an “Open” meeting. I can understand that the club needs a means to restrict numbers and this is one way of doing it, but if people have been trawling the internet continually looking for Barnsley related news over the past two weeks, are unaware of the meeting, then it can’t possibly be described as open to all. It would be interesting to know how many fans are members of the Supporters Clubs. Doesn’t bother me - I wouldn’t have attended, and I’m happy to catch up with updates, but the club can’t be surprised/ aggrieved if some people feel that they have been excluded because that’s exactly what has happened. Intentionally or otherwise.
I did , and believe me weekend are far happier nowadays, I only occasionally read this board now mainly just to see what b0llox the fans are still swallowing
Fixed it for you! In all seriousness though, I applaud you for realising it makes you unhappy, and you've managed to walk away. I understand some of the disillusion around the club, particularly around the sham which was 21/22. I wasn't at that stage, and was willing to give it another season, and for me, things have improved dramatically. But I do feel that if the fire every fully goes out, I'd never get it back. I have zero interest in football which doesn't involve Barnsley or England, despite once regularly watching Premier League and Champions League football, so I can certainly empathise. I do think however with some people, if you look for the negative in every situation, you can't possibly ever be happy. That isn't directed at you, but when people are criticising the club based on a completely unsubstantiated rumour, you've got to question what their motivation actually is.
I think that's a fair point to be honest. I usually do get around to asking for questions and reporting back. Work just got in the way this time and wasn't actually able to attend either. No it wasn't a meeting open to all. It's not a fans forum like they hold in the Legends or a pub in town in the past where anyone can go. Obviously, the club have those fairly regularly also. This was a fan engagement forum for representatives of the various fan groups and fan YouTube channels and podcasts. If you want to get involved contact one of the groups that are represented. Off the top of my head, that usually includes BFCST, BBS, Hoyland Reds, Courthouse Reds, Manx Reds & Eyup and Down, Athersley Reds, East Dene Reds, Red All Over, Reds Report, Barnsley On Tour, Tykes TV. There are also a few reps general non-supporters club aligned as well and I've probably missed some. It does sound like there needs to be some better communication of that from those fans groups (such as myself, although I usually do. Just search this forum)
