I guess we’ll see in due course. Although I’ve never stated Khaled has told me what his big news is. Mainly because he hasn’t.
My feel good factor is still up & running, we are light years in front of where we were this time last year & if people want to think that the current squad is what we will be going into the new season with they are wrong, just let the new manager get his feet under the table & I feel sure he will address the team & squad he wants, just show some patience.
I’m largely with you btw. Some of the reactions are embarrassing, and not what I’d even expect from my 9 year old lad. I do think there’s areas for improvement though. IMO fans should have been told about Swansea’s approach sooner than they were. There was no info on who was looking after the club or pre season once it started. The senior coach was still on the beach when the players were back. Friendlies have been played behind closed doors and even cancelled, with no explanation. We still don’t know when Collins is joining us. Loads of people still don’t have season tickets, despite being told first two weeks in June. A fans rep meeting that no fans knew anything about until it had happened. This ‘big news’ that has turned into a monster. There’s probably other stuff I’ve forgotten. There will be perfectly reasonable explanations for all these things, I’m sure. But that’s what comms are for. In isolation, none of these things are a big deal. But when you add them all together, with no comms, they can be.
Yep, my remarks certainly weren't aimed at you. One thing that does seem to be a constant problem is ticketing. That does seem to be an area that needs addressing from the comments that appear on here on a regular basis. Not particularly in terms of info but in getting it right.
I don't get this ticketing thing. The season went on nearly a month longer than normal. Only time I'd be slightly concerned is less than a week afore the season starts and its 4 weeks away. And I'd pop to the club afore it starts or contact em if absolutely neccessary. Staff take holidays too or aren't they entitled. Has anyone on here never got there ticket afore a season started. And what did you do to sort it. You can go and buy one day b4. Or even after. https://www.google.com/search?gs_ss...#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:401e94fc,vid:XewgV0OhzDk
I don’t think there is anything untoward going on. My guess on the friendlies is that we had to give the pitch a bit more time for the home one (don’t forget our season was extended because of the playoffs so the pitch was replaced later) With the U18s being out of the country and the head coach arriving on Monday and wanting to asses the squad, including the U21s, then removing the distraction of the friendly made sense all considered. We’ve got a really good relationship with Guisely, we regularly loan them players. We pretty much have a pre-season friendly with them every season. I’d have thought this wont damage that good relationship. Flydes pitch isn’t ready hence that one got moved behind close doors. Big news will come. I don’t think Khaled put any sort of timescale on it but it seems fans are asking about it daily.
I think it's season tickets people are mostly talking about, not match day tickets. You wouldn't expect people to have to go the ticket office to sort it. Especially when they've asked for digital tickets. They should just be issued really. I think it's reasonable for people to expect an update, if it's been a month since they were told they would get them. Nothing to do with staff having holidays really. It's going to cause the box office staff more work, having to deal with people asking where their season ticket is.
Fylde got put behind closed doors because they got wind of how many Barnsley fans planned to go, when they could have just made it all ticket.
There’s certainly been a bit of an overreaction from some of our fans. Although I will admit, we could’ve definitely communicated better over the way few weeks. Not asking for statements on every topic raised on the BBS (that would be a full time job for someone!) but just some brief progress updates I guess. My feel good factor is still there. It certainly took a hit with Duff leaving but after reading more about Neill Collins, I think we’ve got a good one that fans will take to. And, as always, once August nears and we’re back at a sunny Oakwell, I’m sure we’ll all be back in to the thick of it.
Our own website. https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/20232/july/fylde-behind-closed-doors/ Too much hassle to make it all ticket obviously. Poor excuse.
Very good post. I'd like to think those supporters also spend £20 a week ringing 0898 12 11 52. But l bet they didn't back then.
Fylde moved it to their old ground from their new ground. I'm sure they could get one of the two pitches ready. Our home game with Blackburn moved behind closed doors due to "logistics". That might have been the pitch not being ready, but then they could have just said that rather than be vague.
