Feel sorry for their fans, I know we like to take the micky out of the americans with football with their 'weird' chanting and stuff, but I'm fairly certain a lot of them will be extremely sad. Just like us with Duff. Wonder if they'll obliterate their board for losing their manager half way through their season...
Not sure how their contract/transfer system works. But we should try get Cal Jennings on loan, at the end of their season. With a view to signing him..
Turned the new mexico match on on Youtube... Their commentator asked the expert about what he thought about Collins joining us, he said we were a massive club, we shouldn't have been relegated after finishing in play offs in championship & that relegation was unexpected & that he'll be coming to Yorkshire... "where he is from" not sure if they're aware Yorkshire isn't in Scotland
wound it on to his send off at the end....don't think mickey long haul would have enjoyed an oakwell goodbye like that. The more I see, read and hear about him I'm liking the appointment v much. As a starting point seems we've got a decent bloke looking after us. His eldest kid was in bits. Will be interesting to see where they look to settle over here. Any South Yorkshire Tampa Bays we know of within a 25 mile radius of Oakwell?!!!!
Watched about 20 minutes at the end of the first half before falling asleep.Thought that the opposition looked quite poor, but you can only beat what's in front of you. What I was extremely impressed with was that Tampa Bay looked very well organised indeed, and every player was comfortable in possession. They seemed to be trying to play it out from the back whenever possible, but if they were about to get into bother, they weren't afraid to go long. I can see why they've been so successful.
From reading and listening online, they seem disappointed, but extremely grateful for what he's achieved there. Started the project several years ago, and saw it through. Hopefully if he's successful he'll be with us for longer than a year.
He got quite the send off. It’s evident how well thought of he was from his team, staff and the fans.
Judging by the length of time he's spent there and the age of his kids, their lives will probably have been most, if not all in America, big upheaval for them. He's a massive fish in a small pond over there but it looks like he's built a club from the bottom up, seems really passionate about it as well. From my original "meh" at this appointment it's growing on me, looks like he can slot right into where Duff left off. Hopefully no more players are to be sold and he's got a very good squad to work with once he adds his own few players. Mads fee, Duff's compensation, 9k season tickets, play off money - we shouldn't be harping on about a deficit, if we are then the board need to pull the finger out of their arses. The fans have done their bit.
I'm guessing his kids were born over there, so it must be really difficult for them, never experienced a Yorkshire winter before, leaving all their friends etc. The young lad looked distraught.
https://mpv.tickets.com/?mkt_code=W...ction=false&onlyCoupon=true&onlyVoucher=false If someone fancies watching their next home game, 70 odd dollars for the best seats WTF. Expensive for the standard.
It's America, all stage managed for the camera. They're showing us what we'd like to see, not what's reality.
It's a good sign that you can see how well thought of Collins and Stead are. The ground and quality of opposition is a step up coaching us, but they should do just fine. I suspect he will try to bring at least one of his players with him.
I heard him say somewhere that his youngest 2 were born over there. The older lad might just have memories of the UK, and given his dad was at Sheffield United at the time I can see why the kid is so upset
