I’d love us to sign Forrest Lasso too. Probably a bit old, but he played in Sweden too. Purely for commercial reasons, he’d be worth it
If Collins goes to the Champ, he’ll be on the bench. I can’t think of any club who need a first choice currently, unless they’re having one nicked by a Prem Club. He’ll not go until we’ve a replacement - or if Collins talks him round. I’ve said before - he’ll have had irons in the fire for months due to Isted.
Funny that many on here said isted was the better keeper. I always Said Collins was a very good keeper proven in the championship and not much in it. One will be playing championship football next season the other will be playing for Charlton.
Man Utd fans say the same about David De Gea. We were saying the same thing about both Collins and Isted a few weeks ago. I'll judge him based on his performances for us. We've obviously seen enough in him to warrant offering him a deal, and with him being 26, I'd expect him to be pushing for the number 1 jersey, or otherwise, why sign him.
Man uniteds standard of keeper is a lot different to ours, also he's leaving United due to him not being a good enough standard anymore. We could've signed this keeper as a back up. We were down to two keepers before this news about Collins came out so we could've signed a third for cover.
Yea.. if....(big if) this is true....it kind of shows where we are at the moment. I posted a few days ago about having to accept where we are financially and manage our expectations to suit. Its not great and we may not like it but transfers in and out say a lot so far. I appreciate its early days yet and our coach has yet to arrive and stamp his methods on the squad but as usual its about whos going and not whos coming in.
I was thinking Collins would remain this season as he’s the safe option (as opposed to signing someone which is mainly always a risk) but I guess if a team is offering us money for him rather than potentially losing him for nothing next summer, then that’s better for us I guess. Does put pressure on us to find a good replacement.
He is just copying what Alan Nixon already said in his column today. Coventry want him but we need to replace him first.
Does seem weird....... guaranteed place this season, v at best on the bench for a Championship club. He obvs wasn't happy at being ousted by Isted, but if he bore a grudge, the bloke who did it is gone. If he's about wanting to play it makes no sensense, whereas if it's purely financial......
Would have thought you'd get no where near that. Would guess 300-350k.. and off the wage bill would be a good deal.
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spi...klasse=&wettbewerb_id=alle&seit=alle&yt0=Show Plenty of free transfer GKs to pick from if we sell Collins
Relegated in a league 2 side to a first choice in a promotion chasing League 1 team...... Now that would be an absolute disgrace
There's absolutely no reason to think that we would though. In all probability, there are far more capable goalkeepers in England than there are professional football clubs. If Collins goes, I'm not remotely worried about being able to replace him adequately.
As we know coach's and players move on mate.. plenty of decent keepers about. Look at Isted he was third choice and couldn't get a game at Luton.
