They wont win anything this season imo. So points deductions this year will mean little. We are only imo still in one competition (the one day cup) . It all depends on how many and when. If next season we might not attract the best players available. Eg a 6 point deduction in the T20 would probably kill off the competition for us. This year not an issue as I dont think we'll finish in top 4 regardless if we beat lancashire in the last game. County games, too much to catch up. This business with the england (yorkshire) players Is not an issue for em. They are contracted but a main source of income is appearance money. Root will not have had a penny if that's right. (I dont think and will stand corrected he has played for us) And pulling out of the england team. That's never going to happen no matter what you think. And I'd think no one else would agree with you on that one. It'd be a futile exercise and would damage their careers. But it's an opinion you are entitled to. Punishment had to happen. Whether we like it or not. Other clubs will suffer the same fate. If and when investigated.
It’s difficult seeing a result from Headingley today… We’ve a lead of 80 ish and there can be 80/85 overs left as a maximum and rain is possible. They may as well call it a draw now
Looks like we are going to target bowling them out in the last hour, in fading light. YCCC - brought to you by Poya Asbaghi.
Because the bulk of revenue in cricket is generated by the international game, unlike in football. I think similar happens in Rugby Union, with Lions tours, Autumn internationals taking players out of club games (but I can't bring myself to watch any Rugby Union to be certain of that)
Batting practice. Dont think they can call it a day till both agree after a certain time. Got 5pm in my mind.
It would be very interesting seeing figures showing the different sources and amounts generated by each international side. I assume we would be well up the wealth league along with India.
I know that the Windies ain’t got much. It was a good move by Archer as it worked out but still a massive shame about his injuries. He could have been one of our all time greats but his career hasn’t had the best of starts. He was struggling dealing with everything mentally but haven’t seen any reports recently
Yorks 98/0 at Worcester … Lyth has now achieved 13,000 first class runs and along with several white ball games, he’s been a right good servant to the club
Of note: Dom Bess wasn’t picked today and has now gone on another short term loan this time to his former club Somerset
https://www.espncricinfo.com/cricketers/ryan-rickelton-605661/matches FC average is over 50 and he got a century in his last first class match. We appear to have got lucky having a game in one of the only dry spots in the country.
See Foakes played a critical innings for Surrey again. Came in at 70/4 and dropped anchor to steady the ship and allow the more expressive players to counter attack. He fell short of 50 but it was an innings that turned an awful start into a good score for them. He needs to be in this England side. Not all batting heroes need to smash run a ball centuries! And that's without even mentioning his keeping
