The threshold for gross misconduct - and employment tribunals in general - is lower than that for a criminal conviction. It could end up that the presenter is sacked for bringing the organization into disrepute without actually breaking the law. You could also see that presenter suing for wrongful dismissal and winning an out-of-court settlement if the process isn't followed exactly.
To be fair, that doesn’t mean much as we always knew the young person wasn’t upset about that arrangement.
That’s absolutely no reason for ignoring it like they did with Saville , lessons will be learned etc. They didn’t have to jump to conclusions just ask to see what evidence she had!
Evidence of what? Until a few days ago she never made any allegation of anything illegal. The only illegal activity she alleged was that her son was a drug addict.
exactly! Even if somebody thinks the complaints are erroneous they should still have been investigated. Apparently they have a person giving money to feed a drug addiction and a parent was worried, they should have asked her for full details and made a judgement not ignored her. Btw why are you getting hung up on illegality, there is such a thing as immorality!
Therein lies the difficulty for me. If someone comes into my place of work and alleges I do something immoral should I be suspended and it be up to my place of employment to conduct an investigation?
Morals are a very subjective issue, we have a government in power who in my opinion have none for instance, but a good number of folk voted to put them there.
well personally I would at least expect to be called into the managers office for a confidential chat.
Because as I've said there are many people who pay for explicit images and videos online. I believe only fans has well over 200 million subscribers (and a third of them are women subscribers too) worldwide. Are they all immoral? Do they all deserve to be investigated by the morality police? Should they be suspended and potentially sacked for it? If so where do we stop? Anyone who visits a porn site should be sacked? The allegations of illegal activity which came later (and have been denied by everyone except the mother) are different, those allegations should be investigated fully by the police. And the presenter in question WAS called in for a meeting months ago.
that’s what I meant, it’s the ignoring it that bothered me most. Surely you should ask for full details then get the blokes version.
