Wasn't that why today's friendly was canned?
To allow the new guys to see all our squad in match action?
Or did I misunderstand some of the comments relating to the cancellation?

I think it was the fact that it was the first day Neill and Jon would take training so it made sense for all the players to be available to them for assessment which meant we couldn't field an U21 team for Guiseley.

Sorry but while that might be factual it’s a pi ss poor excuse for shafting Guiseley, no?

I think if Guiseley can accommodate us in next two weeks, it might be a good opportunity for the two coaches to really see what they have got and repay Guisley for messing them about.
We are better than this and should honour the fixture.

What makes you think we are better than thus when we've recent previous of doing the same of cancelling a fixture at short notice?

Still doesn't make sense tho, have everyone train in the morning and then a training match later in the day...... Couldn't think of a better first day for some new coaches to assess the squad

Yet again we don’t have to know every answer, all the second guessing is just that. As much as Guiseley may feel hard done by, they’ve also probably done alright out of the various previous recent years friendlies with us, a match which to a club of that level would I’m sure be most welcome financially and which many other clubs at that level won’t be getting this pre-season…

Yeah, I'd say you are right. We've got a good relationship with them; we regularly loan them players and have pre-season friendlies with them nearly every season. Wouldn't have thought they felt too hard done by.

Don't know too much about how they train but wouldn't the U21s that are due to play usually have a separate session to focus on how they tackle the game ? Thus taking away the U21s that train with the first team from the new coach's first session.
