Not by me. Feels like the West Stand and Hex debacle, seems like they think we're all thick northerners that will take any guff we're fed!
It’s a shame, that’s for sure. However the club will have done it for a calculated reason. The people in charge are not idiots, and are not out there to alienate people - they just do the best thing they can given a set of circumstances and budgets. They won’t give any further detail - nor should they really. It’s private between the club and Keith. DPA ensures that. The way they have backed and looked after Beth Sefton shouldn’t be forgotten either.
Don't think he intended any malice in that. But I'm sure the club advertised her role anyway didnt they, unless I dreamt it
Should have applied again if the job was one she wanted. Fair play to the council for letting the other one have a chance, it's even more difficult to get a job like that if you have a disability.
Not sure if this is correct TBH. The government prior to Covid was targeting car washes including valeting companies who supply labour to car sales garages and were using IR35 to target the companies as all the Valeters were(and mostly still are), so I doubt the individual Valeters were Ltd companies.
How have they exactly? There's a crowd funder that everyone can contribute to but have they done other stuff too? Like keep her job open for as long as she needs to recover? This is a genuine question, not sure how to write it so it doesn't come across negatively .
Of course they did. And given how long she may be out of action a decision had to be made. Doesn't mean she's completely out of the picture. No malice I get that. but poor judgement in my view.
Sole traders aren't affected by IR35 in that way. Think there was a case where some valeters went to tribunal to prove they were employed rather than self-employed due to the nature of how they were working (and therefore should have had holiday pay etc etc). Don't think IR35 came into that case though.
Sad to hear this about Stretch a smashing lad whether on or off duty. Gally is it possible to bring this up with the relevent parties to give a clearer picture on whats going on,obviously if Keith gives his permission.
Again, the club can only say so much. But Beth’s family have said the club have been very supportive throughout the time. Usually, a person in that higher role, who has served for that long, would normally get full pay for a reasonable time to act as support, and not just SSP. Not saying contractually, but as a gesture.
Those 2 were as you say debacles. But they did listen to the fans on the Hex issue. (Shouldnt have had to mind) the west stand communication was poor at best.
Let's face it we have all been there, you give your all to a company and then you realise your just a number, And it's happened a few times in my working life but hopefully he will go to better things and enjoy the friendships he's made.
It is about balance Titus. With regards to this issue I imagine it's been done to save a few quid but I genuinely can't see that it will be much compared to the PR own goal. I've got genuine problems with some of the guff that comes out from the club. Instagram is a constant flow of trite, glib, meaningless nonsense. One liners like "we go again" "back under the lights" and my personal favourite "another three point opportunity" are an insult to the intelligence . I'm fed up with the constant patronising, self delusional nonsense about a special Barnsley DNA etc. The first five minutes of Collins' interview were wasted having to pray at the altar of how Barnsley is special cos the fans are straight talking, hard working, honest etc, etc as though there's no other club or town in the country with similar support. There's f***ing scores exactly like us. For god's sake can we stop blowing smoke up our own arses with this Barnsley is winning crap? Hex was a disaster and had to be sorted by the fans or they'd still be here. I love some of the things that the new Board are trying to do but Khaled remains utterly inept at communication and he undoes some of that good and gives the tinpotters free ammunition.
Good article here that touches on some of the issues raised here: https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ommunities-fans-owners?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
On Hex, if you had subscribed at the start of last season as of today it would have lost 85% of its value.
Nice post. The tripe that the club splurge out quite regularly is no better than the stuff you get from political parties. And about as accurate and endearing. Anyway, today - Sacking is Being Barnsley!
