Interesting that they’ve billed him as an ex-rangers striker, when from what I can see he never made a senior appearance for them and has played for six clubs since…

There are some gems to be found in non league as we saw with Roberts, McDonald and Pinnock. But there’s also players like Mike Phenix and Shaun Tuton. We’ve had much better luck with defenders than we have forwards when recruiting from non league.

It would be nice to be linked to a player who actually plays in the football league

What, like that lad from Grimsby?? Or the lad from Salford who we reportedly had a bid turned down for??

I don’t think we’ve even been linked with anyone at our level have we? It is quite worrying considering we made the Play-Off final last year, the kid who said earlier this summer that there’s not a lot to piss in isn’t going to be far off is he…..

But then not many linked us with our new manager either….. so maybe they are just going about their business quietly (and therefore more cheaply)…. Or maybe not…

If the latest rumour is true I hope he's more of a success than the other non league strikers we've signed.

We've had a good record at bringing defenders up from non league and then being great but not so much luck when it comes to attacking players.

I think that we definitely shopping to the cut of our cloth...and we are going to have to accept that we are doing so for a reason.

FFS!....some on ere are embarrassingly inpatient.....new manager been here 3 days!!!!.....hopefully the board are letting him look at the squad and form an opinion to where he sees we need to strengthen, then maybe they will look at the so called spreadsheet and perhaps sign players we require, I am no happy clapper btw but I think some folk must be so bored that all they have to look forward to is having a moan on here lol!

Stop it with facts. We're only going to sign players from pub sides and play in the Sheffield & Hallam League

Which non league team did Keegan play for?

He went to Scunthorpe as a boy and then on to Liverpool. Scunthorpe were definitely NOT non league in 1967.

Thought we would have had some investment now after Stones/Mads/Oulare/Duff/Ismael. I remember someone coming on here explaining finances of the club quite well in the past when we post our statements. Would be interesting to see some explanation of where that money has gone if we don’t actually put some of that money to use.

I may be wrong but I'd expect incoming transfer money to be paid in installments so we wouldn't have the full amounts "in the bank"

Didn't the accounts show we are currently losing several million a year whilst we are in League One? I would imagine the majority of it will be filling that stop gap.

Mick Butler was non league. Darren Sheridan was non league. We need to get a grip here. We can't sign a non league team & expect to compete, but the idea players can't come from non league & excel is also ridiculous. A lot of talent is written off & they come through & prove themselves.
