What I find galling, (and we can all question the rights and wrongs of the decision) " it is one big family behind the scenes. Including the media section who deserve our praise." Their words, not mine. Fact. "But sorry bro you are not part of the family" (my words) Sometimes business decisions are wrong. Simple as. imo.
That’s the thing isn’t it, you don’t get to do things like this and pull the ‘we’re family’ card. If they want to just be a business and make business decisions without thought to the people affected by them then fine but they can’t have it both ways.
Length of service and loyalty isn’t to be disregarded. The fact he’s bloody good at the job shouldn’t be either. I also sincerely doubt he’s particularly expensive in the industry so I doubt there’s much of a cost saving. You don’t see any of those as reasons, I do. But there’s a bigger issue. The biggest reason it’s a bad decision and a massive own goal is because they’ve done it idiotically not knowing the reaction it was absolutely bound to create - or actually more likely they knew very well and did it anyway. We are past a dozen pages on this thread, there are numerous tweets to the club quoting stretch’s statement calling out the club, heavily critical, asking them to reconsider. Facebook too. It has gone down like a fart in a lift almost universally. They are completely noseblind to the stink that they create when they do things like try to close the west stand, or like letting Stretch go here. The kit brought ridicule with an apparent mantra that no publicity is bad publicity - it seems to me that they are willingly doing things that will go down badly to draw attention. Why? Even in losing the playoff final there was a sense of optimism and connection with the club and fans. Duff leaving eroded some of that and the club can’t be held to account for that - but Khaled’s big mystery news that doesn’t apparently exist, the radio silence on pretty much any given issue, the lack of significant incoming transfer activity, outsourcing the club shop for it to be filled with tackily printed primark quality hoodies and charging a fortune for them, having no kits available to buy with an estimated delivery for preorders being three or four weeks after the season starts, people who renewed season tickets four months ago still to receive them despite being told they’d be here last month, cancelling a friendly against a non league club who would have been looking forward to the income generated with zero ***** given about doing it - what they’ve done to Stretch is the latest in a growing line of actions (or inactions) which further alienate the supporters. Spectemur Agendo. I’m not sure the board would want us to judge them on their recent acts.
Excellent post. I agree that there have been a good few things which, unless explained, don't reflect well on the club's decision makers. And whilst we must undoubtedly be grateful for the ousting of Lee and Conway, that doesn't mean that they're not still getting many things badly wrong. As others have commented, it's the "Barnsley is blah blah... Our identity means..." marketing guff that tips the edge when the club do things which completely misunderstands working class Barnsley values.
Probably saved 10 bob a week to put towards iseka’s pot. The money we must have wasted on him an oulare must be nuts.
You’re absolutely right, mate. No point in speculating about this, til we know the facts. Which we probably never will.
A family club when it suits. Eyup and Down have nailed this one!! https://fb.watch/lKMouxVNH_/ https://fb.watch/lKMouxVNH_/
Could there have been a fall out, over money or contracts, or maybe even to do with the footy club itself. None of us know though, so it will have to remain between the two parties themselves.
Yeah you could even say its none of our business, even if lots of fans apparently do like him and even know him, etc.
Indeed. There’s no getting away from the fact on face value it looks like a poor decision but the club should not be revealing reasons why unless he specifically agrees.
Good find, Arch..... Khaled, JAQ, Neerav..... please watch this... you can't buy this, what we have (had) It's okay that it slipped through as an uninformed 'business decision' but it is there to be seen now... and it can be reversed.
It's not ok, too many 'uninformed business decisions'...... It's pure incompetence and we need a change of CEO to restore any faith going forward.
