Just for the record, the current political editor of the Scum tweeted the comments in the link, yet still thinks the story about Huw Edwards was in the public interest. Wonder if he would think the same about his tweets?
Yes its hard on them , and his wife if she wasn’t aware , by the sounds of it it was only a matter of time before his assignations were made public by someone
Has the gender of the other person involved even been confirmed? The news story I saw used neutral language.
With Wyman surely it's a case of that the police didn't get to know about it at the time? If it had been made known to them and there was enough evidence to prosecute, I reckon it's likely that they would have. You can't base a law like under age sex being purely reliant on the complainant grassing on the perpetrator. Shirley.
Not so sure. Feel sorry for his family but being in the public eye and a married man surely he knew he was playing with fire and things would get leaked?
To be honest that rag has done what its owner wants. Totally distract the public, attack the BBC and focus away from the real news. Where is the attacks on: Johnson failing to comply with a court order to hand over his phone The sitting MP facing 4 counts of sexual assault, still allowed to hold constituency meetings etc The stripping of the right to protest The stripping of the right to strike The economy crashing Highest inflation in the G7 400,000 new children now in poverty Oh no, look a news reader didn't commit a criminal act, but we think he's a nonce I despair of the UK
you should send in that article you wrote, 'I like to watch squirrels nibbling my nuts' , could be right up their street!
I did…they said it wasn’t sensational enough, they asked if I could include something that would ruin someone’s life,
They've been very careful in this regard, but an interviewee on Sky News last night referred to the person who's mother is involved as being her son.
You are right. How many of us would just play the hes not done anything illegal game. If an elderly man, paid your child or even young adult. obscene amounts of money to get sexual kicks. I'd admonish em both. It may not be illegal. But I'd suggest a pervert, immoral in the extreme. And I'd do summat about it. Not let sleeping dogs lie. The mother should have gone to the police In the first place. bypassed the employer. and hopefully put the wind up him. Even approach him and let him know what you are aware of. Wouldnt have taken much. And put him on his guard. Re his behaviour. Hes in hospital for a reason, Hes been found out. Is that a reason to sympathise. Not in my book.
That’s it though isn’t it. If my 17 year old daughter was going dating a 50 year old man I’d make it abundantly clear I thought it was wrong to her, and I’d be very interested to know what his interest in her was. I wouldn’t be going to his place of work unless it turns out he was her teacher or sports coach or something. As ridiculous as it sounds, 17-20 year olds are able to make their own life decisions and often they **** it up, but as a parent you deal with you child, not someone else’s employer.
Haven't two police forces investigated and found out that nothing illegal happened? There is a defence that if the perpetrator met the victim on an adult website, that there is an expectation the victim was over 18. They could have lied about their age but would have had to supply fake ID/credit card to get around the verification checks. At the moment, we don't know that his wife didn't also know what was happening. Nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors. He could have had her approval for his interests. Indeed, they could even have been both doing it together. Equally, it could be a complete surprise to her.
Stopping your child seeing a man (or woman) that they like is the surest way to lose your relationship with them. You might not like their choice in partner but you can't interfere unless they ask for help.
he’s 61, married and wasn’t after dating as far as we know and In this case it seems the kids judgement was clouded by addiction
I agree, I don’t think you can stop them. I know when my parents didn’t approve of a girl I was seeing at 17 it just led to lies and deceit, because I was still seeing her. You also can’t stop them creating pornographic content and selling it online. It isn’t the punters who are buying it who are in the wrong though either, excepting nothing illegal is happening.
But we are not talking about a man dating. How would you deal with the incident in question. Knowing full well payments were made. (If that is the case) pop round and have a cup of tea with em.
