You have to be positive to some and question nothing on here mate. It's been a awful window so far imo and the squads weaker than last season how people can be happy amazes me.
Before slagging off any keepers we currently have or will sign, let's remember Isted only had about 8 Professional league games at 25 year old and 20odd in non league. He didn't turn out so bad, did he? The reaction from some fans on here boggles my mind.
No mate, it's a board based on opinions, and from time to time, people might disagree with what you're saying. It's allowed. Twillo is disappointed we've signed a goalkeeper from the second worst side in the football league last season. Personally, I'd wait until I've seen him play before making judgement, but each to their own. In the friendly vs Fylde on Saturday, we scored a goal because of him, so for me, he's off to a good start.
This hang up on Tyler Walker is weird. Fans clamour for him every year. He really isn't anything special.
Some of my Lincoln mates seem very pleased to have signed him, but considering how dry and dull Lincoln were last season, any remotely attacking player must be a huge bonus!
I think goalkeeper is a bit of an odd position really. To simplify it a bit, in essence I'm not sure many champions league goalkeepers would do nearly as well behind a league 2 defence. You're looking for very different things at different levels, moreso than for any other position. Would de Gea have been any better for us than Collins in the season we got relegated? Maybe the club have watched him play and decided that Killip marshalled the defence brilliantly, but the players in front of him just weren't good enough whereas ours might be. Maybe we've judged his distribution to be great, but so far to a midfield that can't take advantage of it as well as ours might be able to.
Well to be honest I think it's a great move for both parties. BFC get money for a player who walks free at the end of the season. Brad gets a chance to play football one league higher. Where he wasn't fancied here after an injury. A loan player kept him on the bench. If I was in his boots I would do exactly the same . Good luck fella
I'm sure he'll do a job for them mate- I just see fans bringing him up every transfer window as though he's Messi and I've never understood why
Agreed. Forest Green could have had prime Yashin in goal with Pickford on the bench last season and they'd still have finished bottom of the league as their entire team was gash from back to front. Maybe they'd have conceded 5 or 6 less goals, but it wouldn't have come close to saving them.
I'm disappointed we seem to have let Collins go without a replacement in 1st. If he is taking the position in the starting 11 it's a step back from both isted and Collins. And searle as back up looks risky. It's been a very poor window and looks abit worrying if I'm honest
Firesale continuing then. I'd prefer us to get in a replacement before letting him go. Please don't say someone from Hartlepool will be our number 1 next season or Searle who can't even reach bench warming position.
Why did he get dropped for the rest of the season? Collins was ever present in our relegation season.
We don't know whether it's a step back until we've seen him play though. Similar was said in January when we let Walton go to Luton, and brought Isted in. It turns out Isted (in my opinion) was the best keeper of the 3. It's unfortunate we've not signed him permanently, but I imagine there's a plan in place to sign another keeper, unless Searle or Hayton ar making the step up, which I don't see.
That's like United letting de gea go and signing forest greens keeper and fans saying we'll we don't know its a step back unill he plays. I'm no expert but I'd hazard a guess Collins is a better keeper than a bloke who played in the 2nd worst side in the efl and hartlepool fans weren't impressed. I like the let's be positive no matter what approach but its looking very worrying.
Thought we’d keep Brad this season and let his contract run down to see what next summer brings. I guess not. Can only wish him well. Don’t know that much about Coventry and their current goalkeeper situation but I guess whatever the situation, Brad has moved up a league and probably got a decent payrise. Hopefully we have someone lined up.
. I'd written a reply out, and I've decided to delete it because I'm wasting my breath. I'm sick of the negativity on this board. Time for another hiatus I reckon.
