Players you mentioned came through our youth, how many have we signed for the U23s that have benefited us ? Your 100% right mate but I thought we were skint. Id rather spend what little we have on improving the first team and let the academy run its course.
With that, I agree mate. If signing a plethora of youngsters with potential means we can't properly go after our main targets for the first team squad, then I'd definitely have a problem with it. Obviously, we'll never really know, but I'd like to think they have their priorities straight!
Odour, Davies and Walton were signed as young lads for our first team and played for us which is exactly the point I'm making.
Yeah I think he was nearly 11 and his path wasn't blocked by random 17/18 yr old signings which again is the point I initially tried to make (obviously not very well )
I thought Holgate joined us from Doncaster but I will bow to your superior knowledge, but I do know that Jordan Williams joined us late from Huddersfield and has progressed to being a regular in the team
Another one that came in with the big fanfare.. yet leaves by the back door without a squeak. And we're still doing it.. this week Nathan James.. big announcement, and may never play a first team game. Folk bang on these days about mental health. We build up young lads, give em media interviews before they've done f'all.. and vast majority just don't make it.. it's absolute folly. Teach em discipline and work ethic. And if they have natural talent they should do ok..but stop with this pseudo celebrity b'oll'oks. For me it does no good..
Didn't Sahara have a bad injury? It's not like he hasn't made it he will be playing against us next season in the same division if there's out about him.
According to Wiki we signed Jordan Williams August 2018 and he played 11 times that season which is exactly the type of 18 yr old that we should be signing, which was my initial point many posts back.
Yes, but what we are saying is he only played that many games because he turned out to be good enough. We dont sign players for a laugh mate haha.
My point is that signing players for initially the under 23"s & to continue with their development can work .
Well they all spent time in the u18s and U21/23s which ever it is, which says to me it was for further development. Obviously it doesn’t always work out for all of them, but that’s how it is
I think I only saw him once or twice but on that occasion he looked a million miles off the required standard. Good physical attributes though so plenty to work with
