In my view yes we can. The bulk of our squad are still intact,we have a management team who have cut their teeth in the USA but have been fully endorsed by Danny Wilson and Mick Mc Carthy they also have the knowledge gained by over 1300 appearances in English football.New signings will follow shortly and I think we'll have a well balanced team of youth and experience. My prediction top 2. Please feel free to agree or ridicule but be kind to each other.
Without a doubt we will go up this season. Great appointment of our coach, really shows the talent of Khaled and the team. Strongest midfield in this division by a mile.
I don't see why not. It's league 1, we've done it before. I was confident of automatic promotion had Duff stayed and having either Isted or Collins but no reason why we can't get a top 6 spot .
Hopefully yes , a couple of obvious additions plus a couple of quality loans & we should be set fair , however although we all would like us to get promoted I would be well happy with another enjoyable season like the last one aside from the gut wrenching last 4 seconds !!! . After the humiliating relegation & a summer of doom and gloom I was not very optimistic but in the end it was really enjoyable, getting that winning feeling back, scoring goals & doing the double over the Wendies all made it a good watch , as I said it was a pity about the play off final but hey no one died & we move on , same again ( without the end bit ) please .
No, not with a points deduction, and a significantly weaker defence. Even more weaker if Kitching departs. Mid table.
It's your view and you are entitled to it without ridicule. Can we go up? Yes. Do I think we will go up? We will only have a chance if the glaring gaps of the 7 (don't get how anyone can in any way vary this figure - it's fact) of the 18 Wembley squad members we will no longer have when Collins is official are filled adequately and in short order. Most other teams have strengthened, several have strengthened significantly and there will be less very weak teams at the bottom imho. 3 of our 4 units Goalkeeper, Defence and Attack are currently downgraded or vastly downgraded on last season and I think we could get a very rude awakening if we don't get our act together soon.
I don't get the automatic assumption that the coach is as good as Duff was. I'm fairly pleased with his appointment but in reality we have no real idea if he'll be as good as Duff. If he is and we make a couple of good acquisitions plus some decent squad players we can be top six again. I don't see how predicting automatic can be anything more than wishful thinking. We could do it but there's going to be Bolton, Derby, Peterborough, Charlton, Reading ( if they're still cheating) to contend with plus there's always someone who comes from nowhere.
I think we can go up if spend a couple of million on 4 or 5 players from the EFL. Clifton, Dallas and Deborah will add a bit off scaffolding to the team.
I like your optimism I just can't see it as yet. Luke thomas was a good squad player and infact one of our best players until his injury, mads was a big loss, both keepers from last season will have left plus Bobby Thomas so I think the squad will be weaker. Makes no difference if mick and Danny Wilson rate him proof is in the pudding and this will be is 1st season in England as a head coach. I predict mid table to bottom half finish on current squad and a awful pre season.
My response to the question is; No idea whatsoever, to me, last season looked like mid-table and so did the previous season in the Championship, both being wildly off the mark.
I don’t think this summer has been the disaster some would portray it is. I can’t see any other key men leaving. I am confident we will strengthen. A lot depends on how good our new coach is. On paper I am excited by at the appointment. But I thought Nigel Spackman would turn out brilliant too. If he continues and builds on what Duff did, I think we’ll go up
I truly dont think we need to spend a lot. (If a player becomes available with good credentials then take the punt) But the loan market may be tapped and I'm sure a few good ones will become available when teams have taken stock of their squads. Aren't you allowed to name only so many players in your first team squad. in the premier for example. ? Edit. 25 it seems. Even in the EFL. But you can change during during transfer window's.
