Surely a player cannot refuse to train? It has to be some sort of breach of contract? I'd imagine we desperately want to sell Styles just as much as he wants to leave but we 100% shouldn't roll over to any derisory offers. If anything send him out on loan again in the hope he smashes it and someone comes in for him.
I'm tempted to shout 'bull****' at this just on the basis of who the rumour has come from. He's one of a few on twitter who recycle endless rumours that have no basis. Wilder was definitely signing, Connell was definitely leaving, Kitching is now demanding to leave after signing a new contract. Styles has been wanting to leave for 12 months now and sulked under Duff until he got a move to Milwall so I expect he is still wanting to move which is hardly breaking news
Wouldn’t surprise me both were sold. Would surprise me if either refused to play because they wanted to leave. Any player knows we will sell them if a decent offer comes in so what would be the purpose of striking? I call BS on this
Surely as a professional international player he would’ve been able to play the first half, to try and get that match fitness up? I’d be surprised if he’s refusing to play given he played for us before he went to Millwall last season but I’d also be surprised if he’s still at the club some September.
Surely the best thing for Styles is to train and play well and then get a move in January if there's no champ clubs in for him yet at a price we're happy with.
There’s been some over reaction for this “rumour” (i.e. a tweet from 1 person). Can’t wait for the season to start and the window the shut. Hopefully after we’ve kept the players we wanted/expected to and made some decent signings of course.
We were selling Woodrow for 4 windows on the trot and I think Anderson got a mention 2 or 3 times. So if you repeat the rumour for a couple of years you're bound to get it right eventually.
A cagey situation if Barnsley haven't been approached or refused. and the player or agent have discussed terms . Section C1 of the FA rules, meanwhile, prohibits a player who is under contract, or his agent, from talking to other clubs, or being approached by other clubs, without the consent of the player's current club. 1. Imo a club would have to approach Barnsley first 2. Barnsley issue an asking price. If it's not met they can fekk off. Or tell them hes not for sale.. 3. Said club take a chance and go straight to the players agent. 4. Rumour says hes been offered 3 times salary. 5. If true. Said club will be in the dock.
Poor Styles getting slated off the back of a rumour, he's potentially one of our best players so Collins needs to have a good chat with him and come up with a plan that suits everyone.
We've no way of knowing if any of this is true no point getting our knickers in a twist suppose time will tell.
Calling bs on this one. Might change my mind if it comes from something more solid than “a little dickie bird told me…”
