Forgot about that.. should be a chance for Russell maybe should be fitter than anyone been playing last few weeks
It all depends on who stays and who leaves. On the whole I think the squad is fine and it would hopefully give opportunities to our younger players to get game time and see if they can perform. We don’t necessarily need more numbers, just replacements for any players who leave and some extra quality in some places. The areas that look particular weak/unsure are full back and up front. It’d be nice to have a proper target man up front for the others to play off.
I don't disagree but, new coach, needs bedding in.. will have different ideas. Going to have at least half a dozen different players from last season.. going to take time to get right. Just holding back my expectation.. plus at the level we're doing our shopping makes me also lower expectations of an all out top two challenge. Of course Khalid and the new coach will be all.. up and at em .. but I feel the reality may be slightly different. Collins has been at Tampa 5years not 5 months.. folk may have to be a little patient.. like it or not.
I am all for blooding the youngsters. We need a strong First 11, plus some quality depth too and selectively bring on the young un's when we are controlling games. Last thing you want is to destroy their confidence, but they have to be tested also. Marsh & Ackroyd have been out on loan getting games. It's time now for them to grab their chance, defining season for both. We then need to start giving bench time at least to Jalo & Dyer. But all at the right time when we are controlling games not chasing them.
Give the Collins a chance to settle and get some signings in! Players will leave but replacements will come in, and they may be better fit. While I was dissapointed to see Thomas leave, lets face it its been a challenging few years for the lad. Missed large part of last year due to injury. Season before loaned out because he wasn't in managers plans. Wish him well! Mads, will leave a hole. But remember he took time to settle in, and then last year led by example. Can't blame him for taking his chance to play in the premier league. We made profit and hope we source quality replacement. Wish him well! If Collins goes... we have seen him develop. For the second season running he lost the jersey to backup when injured. If he stays needs to stay fit and command number 1. Williams like Mads has taken time to settle here but last year upped his game and was consistent performer. Would be dissapointed to see him leave at this stage. Despite departures we still have core group together and I am excited to see who comes in. And also to see some of the exciting young talent we have develop e.g. Lopata, Jalo, Marsh, Wolfe, Ackroyd, Nathan James, Jack Shepherd, Joof and Dyer... still remember when Stones and Holgate broke on to the scene, Anthony Kay and others. Could any of current crop step up!? Interested to see likes of Shaw, Cotter, Benson, Russell, and McCarthy development this year... how influential can they be? Can Cadden, Connell, Cole continue where he left off? Kane, Kitching, Norwood and Phillips likewise Iseka, will he play? will he be a flop or a take league one by storm? Styles. Will he stay or will he go? if he stays we have quality player on our hands in League One. If he goes we need to reinvest to strengthen. To many questions at this stage to make any kind of judgements. In Collins we trust! COYR
SD you know full well what the reaction will be if we bring in players from those leagues. I'm not saying we shouldn't though. A good striker is imperative for me. Unfortunately we can't afford anything more than an educated gamble.
It's nowhere near good enough at the moment, no matter how many youngsters we have waiting in the wings. Considering the age and experience of the team I would expect at least a couple of really experienced players to come in and help the inexperienced squad members.
The team currently is bottom half of league 1. Need to start getting some players in door or we on course to a terrible start again.
On paper it’s weaker than last season’s squad by some distance IMO. I’m assuming more players will come in.
Little harsh on moon who was plenty good enough for league 1 last season with Burton. Alex Mowatt and Herbie Kane came back from loans better players and proved supporters wrong hopefully Jasper Moon will do the same.
Expectations, whether they are fair on the new Coach or not, do carry over into the following season if the team have just done well. So mid table transition this time will be very disappointing I'm afraid.
Hopefully we see a significant influx of players, no less than at least 6 players, the already new additions not included. We need an Andersen replacement, in terms of leadership. We were awful at the back without him last season. He was the glue that held the defence together. A midfielder, someone to push Connell for a place, ideally Harry Clifton? Another midfielder to replace Styles if he leaves, as Kane & Phillips need competition. A rwb & lwb, & two strikers. Oh and a goalkeeper if Collins leaves. So actually that makes it 8 players needed. Otherwise it’s mid table mediocrity.
Unsure how many of the academy lads are up to the standard of League 1 at this moment in time....... Only one way to find out Definitely need someone to push Phillips, many games last season where he was anonymous
I think we'll be signing about another six players (possibly more if others were to be sold), with a number from within being promoted to the first team squad.
Are you the club physio??? Just wondering why you keep posting this..... are you one of those that likes people to think your "in the know"??? Best to leave predicted returns to the people that actually know I would think.
