Embargo lifted 4 days ago, already signed both Harvey Knibbs and Sam Smith from Cambridge. 2 strikers, bet Cambridge are chuffed, also bet their wages are persuasive.
Smith has only been away from Reading for the last two years. Former Royals academy player. Decent striker who just wanted to go "home".
I’m happy we’re looking at the likes of Watters over these two. That’s one positive comment from me so cherish it.
There’s a difference between looking at and signing though. We don’t seem to be doing much of the latter.
I think the fact we are looking at non league free transfers to improve the squad is quite alarming tbh.
Non-league free transfers who were out of contract and considered to be the best players at their club are very different from players who were released by Scunthorpe or Aldershot for being crap.
Sam Smith got 14 goals last season and has scores in 7 of his last 9 League One games. Watters can't buy a start. Can't knock Readinf for that bit of business.
Smith was on my radar but his stats are pretty poor, his mins per goal and shots to goals ratio are quite low. I'd have taken him but only at the right price.
