Off to Portsmouth allegedly. According to no one yet, but give it time. Pompey seem to be buying everyone else. Poor lad must be feeling right left out, top scorer wi 16 goals and he's pretty much the only non geriatric first teamer there hasn't been a rumour about.
I get the negativity it’s all about opinions and we are all entitled to them, I have never rated him, I do recall one or two games last season when I thought he’s had a good game probably got stuck in a bit more which is unlike him. If he could watch Norwood and think I’ll get stuck in chase down like he does but unfortunately that’s just not him.
This is the problem devante was great at executing the high press what duff wanted to play. Casual fans think the press is just chasing the ball down like a headless chicken. It isn't watch the home play off game back did it brilliant there forced them to hoof that Anderson mopped up. Got a better gpg ratio than Gregory, windass and Sam smith last season. And people would be creaming if we had signed them.
But he doesn’t chase or work hard enough and it doesn’t just have to be about stats and press, every professional should do it not just amble about like Coke!
He was brilliant for us last season. People must watch games with their eyes shut if they cant see what he brings to the team. I was talking to a bloke last season who said he didn't rate him but when I asked him why he couldn't give me an answer.
This reads like you've completely missed the point that @redrum was trying to make. He did chase hard enough, but he picked his moments, based on the plan that Duff had asked him to play to. Him and Tedic were excellent in the play off home leg, yet all I heard was screams of "close him down" every time Bolton's left centre back was about to hoof it straight to Andersen.
If he didn't work hard enough do you really think he would be Duff's first choice striker? As others have pointed out, he may not run around aimlessly but he certainly didn't lack effort and was perhaps more intelligent in his pressing.
Stats like goals scored? I remember another poster saying scoring goals wasn't important in football, where'd he go?
I think Keith Hill labelled this as Intelligent Energy Have that. Knew what he was talking about did Keith. Even if none of us knew what the **** he was banging on about
I, and probably a few others, get a bit more excited with Norwood because he’s all blood and thunder whereas Devante is much more laid back. I don’t think many (famous last words) can argue with Cole’s goal return last season. Hopefully he can produce similar this season. Especially if we continue to get goals from all over the pitch. Cole, Norwood, Watters and a big lump to be regulars with Jalo getting the odd minutes sounds good to me.
