Toaster packed up - electric cut off. Electric restored but the gas cooker 4 hobs not working - turn gas on but they don't ignite when pressed ( am able to light gas with match.) Have checked all switches and they're on ON. Not sure what to look for next !
Don't light anything with a match. You might end up with a loud bang if you've been tinkering with a gas hob.
Most gas hobs come with an electric igniter which will either wire to a plug socket via a traditional plug top or there will be a fused spur (switch with a cartridge fuse holder) within the vicinity of the hob. Check in the cupboards either side to see if anything is in there. Maybe the cartridge fuse is blown in either the plug top or fused spur. That’s where I’d check.
Total guess. Was the toaster (was it obvious its packed up) plugged into the same socket as the ignition plug. Eg double socket. If so check the socket out. (Turn off at the mains first) Seems a coincidence, that's what I'd look out for first.. (forgive the pun) . A connection between the 2 events.
One recommended. As well. One twohat. Ripped a mate off that I knew. That the mate got from a Barnsley independent/chronicle advert. The mate quizzed me (as he was having issues with a shower installation,) when he got to know I was a spark although not domestic. (Industrial). But know more than enough to give advice on the subject. Little bit rusty on the regs. ( but easy to look up if not sure) And enough to see he was being conned.
Don’t know much about gas appliances but I’ve known electric ones not working till you reset the clock.
As tha still got thi mega, Get rarnd, tha can sort it ,take more than ya adjustable n pliers though. Don't forget to fill art thi permit to work.
Multimeter I'll have you know baz. (Digital at that ) Add a screwdriver. What else would you need. Maybe an hammer to put summat (eg appliances lol) out of its misery to smash it up. Permit, what's that, was it summat you had fill in when the gaffer was around afore the job started. Or one after. to cover thi arse if summat went wrong lol.
If you couldn't light a gas hob with a match (or a specifically designed lighter if you're posh) I would have spent the majority of my life eating salad and cold baked beans.
Toasters and kettles are buggers for overloading circuits and throwing the breaker.Obviously it's a new toaster but I suspect it's blown the fuse in the plug to your oven.I reckon change that and you'll be fine.
Kaht Junior (the Younger) once put the electric cord through the Breville with the sandwich. Thankfully the only injury was to the sandwich and the Breville! It was the last toasted sandwich-maker we allowed her in our house though!
. It might have a blown fuse. But not caused (extremely unlikely) by the toaster. If that's what you mean.
It's a Bosch 4 ring hob which sits on the working surface - away from the cooker. Have looked underneath the hob but no wires there just the gas pipe. Should there be an ignition switch somewhere - can't find it.? Every other electric appliance etc working o.k. Maybe the toaster going kaput and ignition not working was a coincidence. With a large box of Cooks original matches will survive!
No caused by toaster,I've had a toaster blow in the past and throw the circuit breaker.Put new fuse in toaster and it blew fuse again and threw the breaker. So I suspect it's the toaster and maybe just change the fuse to the cooker.
