It was mostly Granstand and Frank Bough rather than World of Sport and Dickie Davies in our house. Saturday's music was grandstand, sports report and then MoTD.

    - Re another thread about 3:15 kick offs - in the late 60s and early 70s I remember getting back in the car just in time to hear the music if we were quick to leave.

It was a proper treat when we used to go on the rec for a game of footy and the local team had left the nets in.

If not, it was hard work in the nets retrieving the ball from the field behind and maybe down the road if someone tried a proper power shot :D

Saturday evening we were allowed to go to the paper shop and pick one chocolate bar each week, I think Lion Bars and Yorkie were my go-to.

Add Barraclough and maybe Downes to the squad and that team was Premiership quality.

Did you call out people who stood near the goals all the time waiting for a tap in? Used to call it babbi'-linin' in Mexborough.

My Mrs C, is from English & French stock. Has traced her family heritage through France & UK. Her surname is Crabtree, American twice removed. She’s pretty sure she’s related to Big Daddy. Any resemblance?.:)
