Ironically, he would have fit perfectly in that sheffield wednesday side last season. Can't fault his technical ability at all, his goal record, anything. Serious professional
Agree @Dyson Can see this having legs. would be massively disappointed if we sold him, he’s vital to us imho
I'd be incredibly disappointed. I had my reservations about Norwood to start with, but he was very important to us last season, and ended the season as our most important striker. Their fans think it's a goer because he's best friends with Paul Mullin, however for me, that just points to lazy journalism. It's a believable rumour because of that, and their apparent budget (despite Reynolds saying he wants them to be self sufficient), but I reckon their marquee signing might be someone from a smaller club in our league. I could have seen them signing Cole Stockton or Alfie May, but obviously those ships have sailed.
This is the thing for me. We've signed Norwood with the intention of him doing a job, seeing out his contract and moving on. We've not signed him with a view to developing him and selling him on for a profit. He's the one player in the entire squad who we've signed for experience and knowhow alone. I'd be incredibly surprised if we entertained anything but a ridiculous offer for him.
We have 8 strikers so something has to give. He's a third tier striker that's 32, has a year left on his contract and rarely does 90 minutes. If the Hollywood owners offer something daft we'd be daft ourselves not to accept.
Would be a bit gutted if he were to leave. I love having him around the team, his experience is invaluable to us. I could see the pull of the move for him though. Would join a very publicised club, earn more money and would probably get more goals in a division lower. Hope he stays.
But he’s ahead of the majority of those other strikers. Marsh and Dyer can go on loan for me. I agree if they offer silly money. If they aren’t, it should be a firm no.
He is ahead because he's played. But at some point we will have to give lads more minutes and starts as it's the only way to know how good they are. Wrexham may want to bring the band back together.
He was talking like he wanted out in his recent presser. Having reservations is fine but publicising them is another.
Indeed we will. But our coaching staff see the players on the training ground every day. I would trust their judgement. I’d love an attacker to come through from the youth system for us but there’s no way Dyer, Marsh or Jalo (who is the closest) would be at Norwood’s level this season.
