Guessing it’s this: https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...now-means-nothing-for-league-one-club-4227641 Don’t see anything particularly bad in there myself.
It was need to know information. Needlessly supplied to the press. He didn't have to say anything along those lines. Unless he was trying to shake things up and instigate a move. Why say anything about the defence. He's a striker and if he's a club man why publicly highlight a weakness? Just my take.
I wouldn’t say that interview is him instigating a transfer personally. Probably didn’t need mention it but I’d say it is quite obvious that we have Mads and Thomas that need replacing from last season. Whether Lopata is one of those remains to be seen. Either way, we need at least another.
I think the paper has spun it a little there but I'd rather hear the player be honest rather than a generic boring interview. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see we are severely lacking in central defence, a non league player and a youngster from Burnley certainly isn't good enough, as it stands.
Anyone doubting his value to the current squad need only look at his last competitive game for us. He made a huge impact coming on as a sub in the play-off final and literally ran himself into the ground as the lone striker. He might not get to play every minute for us, but he'll be a key part of the squad if he's still here and his experience wouldn't be easy to replace. If there's mileage in the rumour then we need to get good value for him if we let him go. Not silly money at his age, but his value to us for one more season as a player needs to be more than adequately covered.
It was good to see a player speaking their truth and speaking from the heart. Better than the usual media trained garbage we are used to hearing from players.
Thought he has already signed his year extension. Plus I think he was just saying what the majority of fans are thinking. He wants to be successful next season and gain promotion, it's natural to want the strongest team around you. With a leaky defence, the forwards end up dropping back helping out too much. Not reading too much into it tbh.
Cheers, mate. I have to say I read that completely different to you. I think he's just bigging up his mates and how good we were last year. Speaks about how the ethos of the club will remain the same with slight tweaks etc. If anything I'm more convinced he's staying! Although perhaps interest in him from Wrexham only came within the last couple of days so who knows. I'd be surprised if he knew about the links and spoke to the press in the manner he did about us
Yeah I'm a bit conspiracy driven at the minute. Just waiting for him to run away with man from the half-time draw.
