.. is the greatest player we ever had at Oakwell..? Discuss.. There’s a big lad in Dodworth, cursing me now. because knows I saw Ronnie play.. Maybe it’s coverage & internet accessibility? I don’t remember anyone else so spectacularly brilliant, in my 44 seasons.?
Ronnie Glavin is the best. Anyone who claims otherwise either never saw him play, or is a vegan WUM!!
Some great memories in that video. Ronnie was before my time. In my lifetime watching nobody has surpassed Redfearn for me. Ran the midfield Consistent over many seasons. Brilliant goals with both feet Did it at the highest level for us Decent in the air Free kicks Penalties Captain Leader Legend.

Most talented footballer by a mile. Scored more goals from midfield than any other and most, if not all forwards. Made wendy's sh4t thessens I give you the king himself. Big shouts for Redders Banks Higgy Hammill. Muller Macca Futch.
Hignett Ward De Zueeuw McCarthey Currie Glavin Redfearn All far better and in my lifetime and theres probably many more. Thats not to say that Hammill wasn't a great player for us, but generally it was league 1 and it was at times inconsistent. Ward, Hignett, Glavin, Currie, Redfearn all contributed 15-20 goals a season
Ronnie is the best as I suspect you secretly acknowledge. Adam though, is possibly the most spectacular. Ronnie didn't score the types of goals Adam did. I guess it all depends how you quantify greatness. Length of stay, depth of contribution, entertainment value, goals scored. In my 55 plus years watching I'd probably rank Hammill as my second favourite. What a fantastic player. Two Wembley goals that should echo down the decades, a massive contribution to a promotion and a Cup win and a significant number of games playing and scoring spectacularly.
I only Saw Glavin in a testimonial when I guess he was about 50 and even then you could see the class. Hammill is top 5 for me, but the standouts were Hignett and Redfearn in my time. Hignett was a class above everyone else. He could just take a couple of steps and find space anywhere in the attacking third at any stage, In any game.
People say that football's boring, Ronnie Glavin's always scoring, Can you hear the Ponty roaring, Glavin is the King. End of.
I’m not sure if I’ve told this story before Kev? Away at West Ham, Adam’s last game in his first spell. He knew he was going, we knew too. He had a stinker, barely got off the left touchline. & there were England reps looking at him that day, too. We lost 1-0, but I will never forget this.. He was visibly upset. Then Mark Noble came straight over to him at full time & gave him the biggest cuddle & I’m sure, some kind words.. One of my bestest BFC memories. I have a lot of time for Mark, he’s going to be a great manager, when he’s ready..
