I thought the same at the time. I tore the advert up in the store and threw it in the bin. What rightly or wrongly in some eyes made me change my mind. Is, It would have been the owners decision, (which I deplored) and not the employees. My thoughts were. it was their (our own people) jobs we were jeopardising.
Just words, we want actions...... Can't blame Conway and co anymore so I'm guessing they will go for the managerial departure as an excuse. I'm sure some will lap it up. Yep it's a gripe and it's not even printed yet
I love a good gripe too. However, I've learnt that the Barnsley board, whatever the regime will do what they want regardless. It's folly to do anything else than support the 18 that are selected on a match day.
BARNSLEY, ENGLAND - SEPTEMBER 19: A general view of the newsroom of the Barnsley Chronicle weekly newspaper on September 19, 2018 in Barnsley, England. The latest newspaper circulation figures, covering 2017, listed a readership of 19,855 copies per week. Launched in 1858, the Barnsley Chronicle is one of the last privately-owned weekly newspapers in the country. Then another article for six months to the end of 2018. -13%. 17K.+ With modern media I guess it's a fraction of that. I think I saw summat about. 1.5k + online subscribers. How many buy the printed version. No idea. But apparently still the largest selling weekly regional newspaper. In Yorkshire.
There's nowt we can do. If the announcement was that BMBC, The Crynes, JAQ and Neerav have sold up to Tesco. It wouldn't make a 5hit of difference. Barnsley F.C is an excellent eye opener and release. Better to focus on what you can change than speculate about things we have no control over. I'm probably in a minority here. Nothing against the board. They've done what I asked and put their money where their mouth is. I'll attend where I can. I dont do patter though. Unless they've got sumat tangible to say it's just filling air time.
A big portion of our fans won't bother with the website or simply aren't tech savvy. This is a good way to be seen by many more eyes all over town.
I was just replying to the other bloke tbh but I agree, but we are still feeling the pinch from conman took a hit on olaure, still paying iseka big wages, the owners had to stump up cash after the self inflicted relegation and we paid the worst head coach in history off
It was devised by an American, until someone else owns up. It'd make me really happy, knowing who may care to claim responsibility for creating such tripe. We're being heavily directed by one certain board member, and the club shirt also tends to give the game away when it comes to foreign influences. I'm quite pro USA myself btw. Doesn't bother me at all. But "winning" has never been Barnsley.
I’ve heard that in simple terms they’re desperate for more season ticket holders and begging people to get them. If you haven’t already bought one or decided to buy one, I’m not sure a letter in the Chronicle is going to be the thing that convinces anyone… but let’s see!
I really, really want to support local press and used to be a religious Chronicle buyer/reader from childhood. But I've not bought a single copy since the front page spread was given to a Theresa May Tory election poster in 2017. I worked with them about a decade prior to that and know that many staffers will have been horrified. Not only given it went against their own beliefs, but also standards of journalistic integrity and they must have foresaw the reaction from the Barnsley public not buying it which could ultimately have lead to them being out of a job.
