On that subject ......... and forgive me if it has already been discussed on here. Why isn't Cryne Jr. a signatory? I always used to see him at games next to his mum, but not the last few games of the season (doesn't mean he wasn't there - I just didn't see him). Is he still 'as involved'? TVM
Good statement. Doesn’t go in to huge detail but then I wouldn’t expect it to either. Addresses the topics of the last few months.
Why on earth would you say that? There's been a constant stream of b****ks on here plus demands for an explanation of what was obvious. They've gone ahead and released a statement as demanded. How you think that makes them amateurs mystifies me. All it shows me is they're willing to spoon feed the hard of thinking occasionally.
All makes absolute sense to me. It definitely won't stop the twitter goblins bairnin. Nothing ever will. But the Club really shouldn't spend energy on that. It's utterly pointless. My only comment really, is that I don't think this kind of reactive statement should ever be necessary, if you get your comms strategy nailed. All these things could have been said sooner, through controlled comms at the relevant point in time. There's nothing in there that makes me think 'ah, this is why they're only telling us now'. I still maintain though, Khaled probably wishes he'd never even mentioned this 'exciting news'. Some of the reaction to it, from actual adult humans, has been ridiculous. So I can see why it might have made them think, 'right, we're not saying anything now until there's anything to say'
unfortunately we still have so-called barnsley fans replying to articles on the women's team, with comments like this.
I don't want the men's team subsidising the women's, and if the women's team unearth the female Messi and sell her for millions of pounds that money shouldn't be spent on the men's team either. I don't think that should offend anyone.
Should the men’s team support youth teams too or should that be kept separate as well? Surely if something makes the club better and stronger everyone benefits
At the current level the women's team operates at I doubt any costs would be too great. Even if the men's team were contributing at the moment just weigh that against:- Extra revenue from men attending women's games. Extra revenue from mothers and daughters getting behind the club as a whole including the men's team. Extra merchandise sales. A greater community bond. A higher profile for the club in the game as a whole. It all works for me.
The youth team is different though in the fact that the production of youth players is a return on investment. If Jalo turns out to be decent then he probably funds the academy for the next decade. There are also potential savings in being able to play youth graduates, rather than having to sign everybody from outside of the club. At the moment the club is losing money, so it's largely irrelevant anyway. The owners are putting money into the club so they can do what they want with it, however if the men's team were to make a profit then that money should be entirely invested back into the men's team to put the best possible product on the pitch. I'd be swayed by argments that a strong women's team would result in improved income all around, but I don't think there's evidence of that ROI from the points you listed.
Maybe, maybe not. It appears there's no cross subsidisation anyway. In the absence of that there is no downside to a vibrant women's team. I can't believe the short sightedness of some leaping straight to nit picking. (Not you).
It's different in that respect. The investment in the U21s, U18s, and academy has a direct link to the men's team in that the aim is to produce players that will one day step up to and benefit the men's team. The women's team are a separate entity.
So if I applauded them all would be good? Would you be happy then? The only reason they've felt the need to release a statement that doesn't actually say much is due to their own ineffective communications in the first place, or the CEO that they employ hasn't done a good enough job..... Shock horror there.
Why are the Women’s team a seperate entity? I would argue they are not, we are extending our reach into the community to expand the club that everyone can benefit from. There is as much chance of someone being involved in the Women’s team putting their child into the youth set up and them making it to the first team as investing it to a junior boys team. They are part of the BFC family as are the youth teams.
I'm not asking you to applaud them. I know how difficult that is for you. Simply to not find a needless reason to criticise what is a straightforward, non controversial club statement.
That's all well meaning and I'm not arguing against that. I'm talking in terms of your question, should we not finance youth teams if we don't finance the women's team? You can't conflate the two. The club have always financed the youth team with the aim of producing tomorrow's first teamers. They can't do that with the women's team. I'm not saying they shouldn't put money into the women's team, I'm just responding to your original question
