Roberts Williams Lopata Kitching O'Keefe Connell Kane Styles Cadden Cole Norwood (Hopefully) Subs Kilip James Watters Russell Dallas Cotter Chapman/Shaw
If that team can be arsed if should wipe floor with most teams. If swap watters with cole Nd switch cole with norwood after 60 minutes
If only football really was that simple I agree with your excitement though. Hopefully we're on for a great season mate.
Just from the Crewe game I would have Cotter for O Keefe as getting forward Cotter is exciting and think Watters and Norwood together is a tough scary front line. Connell and Styles in the same midfield will be immense. Williams and Lopata with Captain Kitch will be enough for the start of the season.
Could/should Styles be the new captain, if he's staying?...... Arguably the most experienced player in the squad
He might want to be here if he was captain & could see a project under Collins but more to the point , do the club want him here , do they want cash in ? Its okay everyone pointing the finger at Styles but a closer look at the club might tell a different tale , personally I think he is a real talent & would love him to be here this season & to be honest I am puzzled by the negative press he gets on this site .
That looks a strong 11, Dallas on the bench and Philips to come back, quite optimistic about the season COYR
Says who? He certainly played lije he was enjoying himself yesterday. Situations change. I've had periods where I've hated work, a few things change and it's all good again.
I'm puzzled too when he has given us so many good times prior to leaving for Millwall last year. Who can forget that lung-busting tackle he made against Forest towards the end of the great escape season. I think it was McGoldrick clean through to win it for them in the last minute until Callum caught him up, took the ball off him and set up an attack for us. Ten seconds later Patrick Schmidt had scored our winner to take it towards that dramatic last gasp winner at Griffin Park. He scored some cracking goals for us and put in lots of good performances, along with the not so good ones. His year at Millwall and the international experience, has made him an even better player and I, for one, will support him every minute of every game he plays for us this season. This might all end this week, or sometime during the August window. On the other hand he might still be with us and form part of an already solid midfield unit at Oakwell. I don't care where he plays for us - he is definitely worth a shirt, if he stays.
Five players in that starting XI who are playing a league below themselves with another couple who will be good enough in a year. It’s a shame the recruitment hasn’t been as strong as hoped as we would have been up there otherwise.
We'll also hopefully get some decent loans in as for me, last seasons loans as a collective could have been much better. If you look at bolton, their 2 players of the season were both loans where we had 2 below average strikers, 2 plop midfielders with only isted as cover for our better keeper and Thomas who was good in 70% of the games.
Luca seems to have missed a lot of pre season. I wonder if the coach will think he is ready to go. See on Sat I suppose.
