Back around 2013 I was in Dublin for a mate's 50th. I spent the afternoon in a pub in the Temple Bar area watching those two teams in a semi-final. As I understand Aussie Rules, it was easy to follow the game. Great atmosphere in the bar and around town that week.
My wife is from Mayo. If you think it's hard work being a Barnsley fan, just ask a Mayo fan about 'the curse'.
Yeah, Dublin have the better bench. Clifford hardly ever misses, but hit 4 or 5 wide today. That was the difference.
Went to a GAA final at Croke Park many years ago. Didn’t really know what was going on, but the atmosphere was brilliant and apparently the game itself was heralded as a ‘classic’.
72 years. 10 final defeats. Thought the curse was going to be broken when we beat Dublin in the Semis to play Tyrone in the final a couple of years ago. No bloody chance. More heartbreak. And to cap another brilliant day - not - the bloody Jackeens flucked another win over Kerry.
Doesn't interest me in the slightest, but I really hope today's winners beat Sheff Wensdy in the Final.
Hasn't the last member of that last Sam winning side now passed? Or is there just one left? Was that the year they missed a free late on to win it, or was that v Dublin the year before?
