Thought he was a great signing at the time, having remembered watching him play in Huddersfield’s play off side in 21/22. He’s been a massive disappointment to date, I’m sure everyone has to admit that? Seems to lack discipline in terms of positioning and his work rate is questionable to say the least. Being the fresh legs in midfield in extra time at Wembley he ought to have picked up Windass’s run. Jury still out for me. Hope Collins can bring out his best.
A bit harsh the comment about picking up Windass at Wembley , the player who should have done that was in the dressing room having being sent off , Wednesday always had a spare man & to blame anyone when we only had 10 men for all that time is unfair , they had the extra man & made it count , just !!!
The thing is his teammates were still putting in the effort but he wasn't. There's no excuse for his lack of effort and being a player down was a reason to put in more effort not less but then it's exactly what he did all season. New manager so I'll give him a chance to convince him to work for his wages but he won't get long from me. Needs to show effort from the first minute he's on the pitch after his pathetic showing last season.
No way for me. His defensive positioning is poor and he doesn't always track runs or mark players properly, as stated above looks more down to effort than ability, but if he's not doing that in midfield, it'll cost us even more if he's not doing it in defence. We need to get him up to scratch in his natural position before even considering changing it
It is all about opinions , I thought at wembley he did ok & i understand that his cameo appearances in the league were poor but there is no way it is fair to lay wednesday"s winner at his feet it is simply wrong , it wasn"t his fault & I know he is the current scapegoat which means he will get blamed for everything but that goal was simply down to the extra spare man they had .
I agree it wasn't solely down to him but his lack of any basic effort massively contributed to the goal. That can't be argued really. Would they still have scored if he'd tried? Maybe. Did they definitely score when he didn't try? Absolutely
If Connell didn't miss a sitter. If Isted didn't let in a shot he barely had to move for. It's all ifs and maybes.
When Isted touched the ball it was 4.1 meters to the left of where his feet were when the ball was headed (yes I'm sad enough to take the individual frames from the video and measure the distance.) Do you even realise how far that is?
You sometimes have to call it as you see it. Hes been awful in pretty much every appearence hes made. When hes been on the pitch, weve been worse than when he wasnt or isnt. Regardless of how good he was at Huddersfield, i dont support them or watch em play, just watched us and hes been terrible. Not sayin he cant be decent but up to press he looks like a raffle winner from Jump Club. Needs to find form or some motivation soon or he shouldnt be anywhere near the first team for me. Not if we have any hopes of getting out of this division anyway.
He played well yesterday I thought, only played the first half, he’s probably one of the strongest players in the squad, towered over Crews midfielders who spent most of the half pulling his shirt to try and get him off the ball.
Am in "He's got it but not using it" camp. dont kno why not but looks like a guy who dunt want to be here..could end up a distance from the 1st team if he dunt switch on..
With the amount of players that "just need a run of games" we'll be starting the season with 2 goalies and 15 outfield players, We now live in an era of the squard system. Players will never again have, 'a run of games' in fact quite the reverse. Even a bad half and they're out on their ar'5e. The days of playing a full season with the same 13-14 players are long gone. Its totally up the player to be better than the other guy who's wanting that same position... No coach these day will put up with anyone not pulling their weight... he can't afford to, he knows that he'll be the one up the road if results go against him. So there's no room for slackers or sentiment, no room for getting up to speed. Its all about the performance and result. Like it or not, thats the way it is. So to start games its always who the coach see's as his best 11 at that time. Something that may change every game or even every half..
Sorry but have a look at the appearance stats for BFC for last season. I'm willing to bet that Cole, Connell, Phillips, Kane, Cadden, Kitching, Williams, Andersen etc all had a decent run of games.
So basically you are still blaming him, look no further than the sending off, playing with 10 men for so long cost us & them having the spare man got the goal , if you want to look at an individual to blame then look at the other 9 as well , could the cross have been prevented ? could the keeper have done better ? who knows with certainty when we are guessing but the one thing we are not guessing about is the sending off & being reduced to a player less & thinking about that its a good job it was a popular player that got his marching orders & not for example Williams or Russell, they would have been crucified , we have to have scapegoats & unfortunately currently it is Russell .
