Sorry if this has already been posted but I cant see it at a quick check of the board Is there a risk our game at Bristol in 12 days time will be postponed? It seems they knocked down the away stand and this is a photo of the stand taken 2 days ago I notice we still have no tickets on sale It also seems they are going ahead without planning permission for a new stand https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/bristol-rovers-start-work-new-8637688 That seems a rather strange way to proceed
Don't think the game can be postponed due to a lack of a stand behind one goal. Doesn't seem to be causing issue with the pitch. Game on with no away fans if they can't be located elsewhere in the ground.
Just imagining how it would go down on here if we didn't have an away stand less than two weeks before the season began
Similar situation when we had to close the East Stand maybe (although that was more severe I think with more than 4000 supporters needing relocating) by putting away supporters in another stand.
Presumably the away terrace down the (right as you look from the away seats) side is still intact and so there just won't be any away seating.
Even home fans cant buy tickets - there is a mega thread on their message board but this post is an interesting one. Someone else on there says they asked us to swap the home and away games round and we refused, but doesnt seem to have any evidence to back up that statement. https://gaschat.co.uk/post/929590/thread
Not that similar - that was an unforseen emergency safety issue, its not as if we just knocked it down They are going to have to find a medium term solution anyway as I cant see them building it and getting a safety certificate for some time
It looks like they are putting in seating similar to Gillingham away. I'm sure they can get them put up in no time anyway. Not sure if planning permission is required if there is no actual "stand". Just rehouse the supporters for the game (or two) that are affected
For last season's fixture we received 300 seats in that stand and 633 standing tickets on the side terrace. The thread linked above mentions '200 tickets' in the new stand for Barnsley fans, that's 100 less than what we got last season, so presumably once the new stand finally opens away fans will have a reduced allocation. I guess for this fixture we will just get the standing tickets. They must accomodate disabled/ambulant supporters though surely, maybe in the stand opposite? Not ideal.
They must be planning to build a new stand otherwise seems a bit pointless pulling the old one down- just leave it empty.
Seems like an odd thing for us to refuse. I would have thought we’d want as much early home advantage as possible. If I were a betting man, I’d say they haven’t even asked us to swap it.
Wouldn't be surprised if little Joey made up a tall tale. He probably posted the rumour on the site under a pseudonym. They don't like us much do they.
If we swap it we're away at Oxford, Bristol, and Stevenage in a row in January. Can't see us fancying that.
We already have 3 home games in August and given our propensity to start slowly, I'd say that's more than enough!
4 with the Cup game against Tranmere. In fact if the Bristol Rovers game was swapped that would be 5 straight home games to start the season. That would be strange!
If we're still in the FA Cup and get drawn away in the third round, win and get drawn away again, we could have six away games on the bounce in Jan-Feb if we swap the Bristol game.
