Suprised Stuart Broad retired after expressing dissapointment about being left out of the West Indies tour last year, . With his retirement and the positive result today it takes the spotlight off Jimmy., Maybe he should be given time to recapture his form because of his record but lack of bowling options for England and Australia in pace and spin in test format is disappointing . . Chris Woakes deserved man of match on a flat pitch,
Anderson doesn’t give a jot about records he just wants to play for as long as he can. I hope he doesn’t leave the game with a whimper though he deserves his Broad moment.
I’d definitely take him to India because a) he will only have to bowl 20 overs a match and b) he’s as skillful as anyone in those conditions and can teach Robinson et al a lot. Whether he makes another summer is the bigger question mark for me.
Anderson has had one bad series, but it was only five or six months ago that he was ranked number one bowler in the world. I'd still rather have him tour India than Woakes, who at 34, has never figured out a way to be anything even approaching mediocrity when playing away from home. From everything that is said about Anderson, and how shy he is etc... it wouldn't surprise me if he announces his retirement after his last match, rather than ahead of it.
TBH, I'd not been following the cricket for the last few years, but was surprised that both Broad and Anderson were playing. I thought they have both retired about 5 years ago...
