Well as some of us said at the time when that scumbag bendall murdered those kids when is anything going to happen to try and finally get rid of these excuses for human beings.
Evil *******. His mum has got away lightly as she was in on the torture of her baby just as much as she was. Evil bitch needs locking up for life and him, the evil lovely person needs locking in solitary for the rest of his. No sunlight, no human contact.
Well it is bound to work on at least one level, given that "figures released by the Home Office show 29 people with homicide convictions went on to commit murder and six went on to commit manslaughter. Of those 29 murderers, 13 previously committed murder and 16 manslaughter." If they had been executed this could not happen. I'm against the death penalty because it's just not right. Not because it does not "work", presumably you mean as a deterrent. You imply that there are other levels too but that is beyond my wit. However I sympathise immensely with the families suffering these tragedies, and believe that if someone already convicted of homicide killed someone dear to me upon release, I may be convinced to change my view about the death penalty. Because our judicial system would thus seem to be proven not to be working on any level.
Doesn't work as a deterrent, is more expensive and you inevitably end up killing some innocent people. Recidivism is a definite issue and I think a lot more could be done to ensure prisoners are only released when properly rehabilitated. I agree that if someone killed someone close to me I'd want them dead, but that's not incompatible with thinking that society shouldn't kill people.
