Very surprised at this - very strange given hes started preseason games and seemingly joked about leaving. I can only hope Collins had a say in it and he was fine with it, otherwise ill be bitterly disappointed in whoever sanctioned this if he wanted to keep him around.

I'm baffled hes dropped so low down. I thought Wrexham was possible but not Oldham, he'd walk into most league one sides let alone league 2

That statement is awful. PR disaster this.

 

I am bemused with this, there has to be a big reason for this, I can't think what it is but this can't happen without there being one.

I will wait to see what the plan is before I stop clapping fully.

Only thing I can think of is contract length and playing time.

He is nearly 33. Say he's with us on 4k a week for the next year, but they offer 3k a week but three year contract (not seen length mentioned yet) it's longer term security for someone who can get injured any time. Easier standard for him and he should bang in 20 if he gets the full games he probably craves. He doesn't seem the type that's happy with a 60 or 30 min cameo every game.

This is an unbelievable decision. Unless he was adamant he wanted to move (for whatever reason) I cannot understand why we would sell such a valuable player.

What's weird about this one is the players decision. Why on earth would you drop to non league from league one? And if it's wages than what a sad state of affairs that is that we can't compete with a national League side.

 

I'll be shocked if Oldham offer him anywhere near that

 

Our current striking options:

Cole - 6/10 striker at this level
Watters - couldn't displace the bloke we've just sold to non-league
Dallas - unknown quantity
Leya Iseka - waster, hasn't had a kick in pre-season
Shaw - couldn't even make the squad most weeks last season

I hope Phillips, Connell and Kane have got their shooting booits on this season.

Phillips is incredible his stats for a cm is unbelievable.

 

He can’t drive and gets a lift with Cole to training apparently.
