I understand (to a point) all the teeth gnashing going on today about this latest transfer and I did like James Norwood in the team. He gave us that aggression that has been missing in a centre forward at Oakwell for some time. But come on - let's have some perspective. He didn't score that many considering how many games he played, which is his job after all. I know his overall play was great most of the time but I am sure we can replace him, or already HAVE done. There's plenty of choice already there and none of us have seen Dallas kick a ball yet. He could turn out to be SSW Mk 2. We don't know, but that doesn't stop everybody having their opinions on the matter.

I'd rather see how it goes on Saturday and in the next few weeks. Apart from the weather forecast I can't wait for kick off :)

Yeah that's clearly the post of a man desperate to leave us.........

They've seen a chance to cash in and taken it

If this is defo from Norwood ....all the signals imho are that they wanted him out.
Just hope we have a replacement lined up with two days to go....its unlikely....which also suggest a bust up this close to the big kick off.

But Norwood isn't our Harry Kane. Connell is and he signed a new contract. Cadden is still here, so is Phillips. Norwood was our centre forward who only got 11 goals in a team that bossed 75% of our games.

That's doing Norwood a bit of a disservice as he really tried for us while he was here, and I grew to like him, but he's not a fantastic player by any stretch of the imagination which is why he's signed for Oldham.

Not sure what to take from that. It sounds like he didn't want to go but the reference to "a couple more years" might suggest he was after the security of 2 years and we wouldn't give it to him.

I’m a bit sad, because I like him. But he’s not guaranteed first team football every week . Which he probably wants. Somebody else is coming in. (Not Billy)..
Same people moaning, who say we need to give the younger lads a chance.? You just can’t win with some..

He got 11 in 45 for a team that finished 4th. He's 33 in 3 weeks with a season on his contract. If he hadn't had that great second half in Play Off final there wouldn't be this umbrage.

It's not brilliant timing, but you can't deny you can see why we've sold him. Watters & Cole will be the front 2 with Shaw/Dallas/Jalo as back up. That's not a bad situation to be in.

It's free money that was v unexpected. I get it.

I think he's made it clear that he didn't want to leave and has been pushed. That plus our blunt social media posts from our media department and few generic words from our CEO, it all makes sense.

Ah right, the instagram post. Dunno, spose you could read summat into that or not. Mads was gutted to leave us. He sat on a chair crying for 5 minutes while he said goodbye. But it was definitely his choice to leave. Either way, I think it’s gonna need clarifying. If it was a Club decision, it was a mystifying one. It can’t have been the fee, surely? As I understand, they’re a skint non-league Club.

So why did he have more minutes in pre season than other forwards at the club.

It’s all whataboutery and conjecture, but just because he’s sad to be leaving doesn’t mean that it isn’t his decision. For all we know he put pressure on the board and said I want another two year deal and the board wouldn’t sanction it so he’s thought about his future and taken the longer contract. Oldham aren’t skint.

Can't speak for everyone but the thing that is most annoying is as per they've done it at a stupid time leaving us short going into start of a season.

Watters has barely kicked a ball all pre season so how fit is he? Dallas is only just being considered for a place in the squad according to manager today due to lack of fitness. He's also gotta get used to a new league.

The big issue we had last season was we started slowly and that was the reason we couldn't get top 2 as we left ourselves too much work to do.

Already up against it a bit with the losses of mads etc. Not to mention other injuries we have. We are now making life harder still by letting important players leave

We’ll pick up by end of November just in time for January to rip us apart.

You talk daft mate, how he’s been pushed?..the club just extended his contract by a year!....it’s obvious he’s had a better offer from Oldham, face facts pal.......he his now secure for 2 year with the added possibility of it being 3.....
