Haha, Will just got in from work and said ‘hey, JamDrop, Go Reds!’

Even he, who knows nowt about football, knows how corny it sounded. (I am surprised he read the announcement though so there may be hope for him yet!)

Yeah - you missed out on saying:

Khaled - not said a dickie bird to fans about offloading our most effective striker - gets slated for forgetting to mention it.

The only way to spare the blushes of those who commended (or perhaps more cruelly, fell for) our CEO's rallying speech, is for him to announce a worthy replacement, and soon.

It may well be the only way to save our bacon this season too.

Also, how duplicitous can you get in urging fans to fork out oodles of quids for a season ticket whilst referring to our "existing core" of players as an incentive to buy one? On the same day we dispose of Norwood.

    Most strange.

Anyway, our forward threat was lacking even with Norwood. A big rabbit needs to come out of the hat now, 2 days before kick off.

When I read it this morning, I thought it was a bland bit of pre-season hype which didn't really hit the mark.

In the context that it was written in full knowledge of the baffling decision to sell Norwood to Oldham, I'm now viewing it as a completely disingenuous message from the CEO, and one that would have been better not being sent out.

A spectacular misjudgement that has set back any confidence I had in him massively. Unless and until there's an acceptable explanation of the Norwood sale, in the context of this communication being sent out, then I'm treating this as a gaffe on the scale of him shutting the West Stand.

Unless we have a suitable replacement lined up - and I don't mean a Tedic or another PL youngster with little to no experience - that statement means absolutely nothing.

It's genuinely like the club has tried to generate as much anger/confusion as possible by publishing this knowing Norwood would be going - to a National League side as well - hours later, with no explanation as to why.

Hollow insincere words that mean absolutely nothing.

I don't know whether it's stupidity or arrogance to release such a statement and neglect to mention that you've just sold your number 9 but yet again it shows a man who shouldn't be anywhere near running a public facing company

Do you really think the money we got for Norwood was the reason we sold him?
If there was a fire sale there'd be players commanding much bigger fees gone before he left.
Next you'll be saying him going was Khaled's big news.

If this were true then it would sit interestingly with the report in last week's Chronicle that the Council is £836M in debt!

I suppose it could be argued that the cost of buying the Crynes out would be small set against the debt, but it might be controversial with those townsfolk who have no particular interest in the football club.
