Now now, let's behave and just enjoy it while it lasts. I would like to point out that nobody has overreacted in a positive sense either. I haven't seen one person claim that we're going to win the league or go unbeaten all season. I thought it worth noting for future reference.
Was surprised the doom & gloom brigade didn’t come online angry to say that with Norwood we’d have had 11 or twelve and that those missed goals may prove costly come the end of the season. There’s still the transfer window to play out yet so they will be back online shortly when Styles potentially leaves. They’ll be no knock overs on Saturday away from home either. I’m just enjoying the win this week. I’ll take the signing non league players, Norwood leaving, 5hit hitting the fan every week if it means we win 7-0 on a regular basis. Gotta judge where we are at Xmas tho for me. A lot of games to play but couldn’t ask for a better start.
I don't consider myself part of he 'doom and gloom brigade' although others might disagree after what I'm about to say! I'm enjoying the brilliant start too. But I still hope we don't go with what we've got up front. Irrespective of the goalfest on Saturday I think we'll need more physicality in some games and I'd rather we didn't wait until January to find it.
The coffee in the east stand was too hot. They still haven't opened Beevor Court. There were far too many empty seats in the Ponty for it to have been sold out. They don't want to go up. Aldi self checkout is appalling.
I think most people realise early season games can be false indicators. It took us most of the first half to grow into the game. We defended well and were clinical during that time though. Maybe we just needed a bit of confidence and got that with the goal(s)? But we cant get too carried as good as that second half was. Lots and lots of positives though and looking forward to the cup and next Bristol Rovers game.
I find the endless point scoring on threads like this so utterly dull. Think I might make a new rule and mute anyone who starts them. all that will happen if we lose a couple or fail to score is the other camp will come on and say “told you so”. I’m in the neither camp myself a good win helps paper over the cracks. The cracks still remain. Let’s all enjoy the win and not criticise people who don’t wanna suck the board off every five minutes. I hope we have a successful season. The basics are there but I’d say we are light in attack and no one knows at this stage if the performances of some of the new squad players can be maintained or not.
It was a wonderful result & performance. If any Barnsley fan is unwilling, or unable, to admit to enjoying it on here, then that's not my problem. However, it is only one match. The volume of criticism throughout the Summer has been relentless, so I can understand the reaction of some to point scoring. For those sneering against it, why didn't you show the same passion against the incessant criticism? Saturday's result is something to build on and a brilliant start to the new season. But it is only a start.
Daft as it sounds, Mbappe would love to have been on the end of the crosses that Devante got yesterday.
