There's been very good goal keeping performances in this competition.

Chloe Kelly is nowt but a big crush of mine who completely kept her head and smashed in the best pen I've ever seen in such a pressure situation. She might be the biggest **** in the squad but I suspect that unless I am the resident psychologist I do not know this, and for now I'm prepared to be left to carefully counting which eyebrow has been plucked slightly finer than the other.

McPhail didn’t take the second penalty? Shuker did.
McPhail was down for the final pen but wasn’t needed. If memory serves…..

    In a cell?!! Lol.
She trod on her. The player didn’t flinch.
I’m not condoning what she did but she’s been punished.
It doesn’t make her a thug. Silly, yes, thug, no.

Yeah people who get angry and stamp on others who are laid on the floor usually get a night in a cell. Just because it's a woman on a football pitch doesn't make it less of an assault in my opinion.

She stamped on her deliberately after fouling get. It was a 3 match ban for Mcgeehan and he was the one fouled. A one match ban seems a bit lenient to me tbh.

You're right it was definitely Hayes, shuker, hecky and kay who took them

Not my definition of a stamp. I’ve seen worse in walking football.
She’s trodden on an opponent and rightly got sent off for it. Petulant.
Talk of nights in cells is just ridiculous.

Not really. I didn't say she should be in a cell, I said if she'd done that anywhere else she'd have spent a night in a cell because she would. If she had 'trod' on someone's back on wellington street she'd have been hauled off to the cells. A lot of footballers seem to think they can do what they want sadly

She’s not on Wellington St and I don’t think the police would intervene even if that happened. In the context of the football match it’s more like unsporting behaviour than violence. The worst thing was she was on the floor. You see far worse challenges in almost every game that get a booking.

We’ll have to agree to disagree.

However, there is a real danger of “trial by social media” here, where a player’s petulant mistake is punished over and over again.

She has been dealt with in the context of the game. The opponent is not injured.
Her team mates and manager will undoubtedly have something to say.
I really don’t think there’s any need for anything else. Unless people want to damage her mentally.

I can’t get over the excuses people are coming up with for her, to be honest, pressure young age, opponent wasn’t hurt etc.
Those things would explain getting sent off for a rash tackle or reacting to a bad tackle on impulse.
What she did, deliberately standing on an prostrate opponent had to be in her psyche , you just don’t just do things like that, OK she didn’t cause any injury to the opponent but she didn’t know that would be the case when she did it.

Oops sorry I misread your post. Just ditched my reply.

Yes Australia would be a good shout but imo it’s all very open now.

    Surely not Australia!!.
Japan have won every game so far, so maybe they are one of the favourites. I think France will put us out in the Semis, if we get there.
Holland against Spain should be an interesting one, and surely Sweden have used up all of their luck.

I’m glad sportswomen have a more rational perspective..;)
Alozie expressed surprise at James’s reaction to a coming together that left both players in a tangle on the grass. “It was good for us to have her taken out of the game,” she said. “I don’t think it was really needed. I’m fine – my butt is fine from her stepping on it! I was kind of confused initially. I didn’t understand what was going on at first. There’s no hard feelings, it’s just a game.”
