Don’t think supporters will be overly fond of managers waving the white flag. Unless it’s pissing it down and they’re out in the open and just want the coaches to start leaving…
We like it. We’ve moaned for ages that you only ever get 1 or 2 mins first half or 3 or 4 second even when there’s been time wasting, several goals, injuries etc. Don’t get me wrong it does seem a bit daft when a sides 6-0 up playing 10 minutes added time & then another 2 when we scored again but I prefer things to be done fairly & them kind of scorelines are very rare. Most games entering injury time only need one goal to change the outcome. In an age with better nutrition & more knowledge about injury prevention & been able to change half the outfield players with teams having 5 subs I think a few extra minutes is fine. People always see the negatives in things but that will have done wonders for Dallas’ confidence & the extra minutes would’ve also been great for players like Shaw, Shepherd & Chapman trying to make an impression.
A team could concede multiple late goals throughout a season though. Or have goals pulled back against them. I get where you are coming from but it's a none starter.
I agree with the correct amount of injury time being played rather than the much shortened amount that we were all used to. My big concern is that all these comments by players and managers will lead to "Americanisation" of the sport. Extra drinks breaks for fatigue are introduced to appease them. They turn into tactical breaks/timeouts with managers on the field. Next thing the DJ is playing music during the breaks and TV broadcasts are going to adverts. I enjoy the 15 minutes of actual play in a game of American football. It's the other 2 hours of nonsense that puts me off actually watching it.
Agreed just need to limit the number. They have too many in cricket and every batter reviews every lbw these days because they can.
What if 2nd is playing 3rd in the final game of the season, 3 points difference and 2nd has +5 goal difference. It's the 89th minute, 3rd are winning 1-0 and due to a long injury and the new rules there's likely to be about 15 minutes of injury time. The team in 2nd could just boot it into their own net and then concede the 2-0 to ensure they go up.
