That would make sense. I don't really understand why people are clamouring for us to buy another striker when we've got loads of them already. The glimpses we saw of Shaw and Dallas on Saturday looked very promising.
Don’t forget Chapman in midfield. And I thought Collins implied we hadn’t finished our incoming transfer business when interviewed yesterday.
I actually think the way we're trying to play now would suit Tedic. Getting down the line and putting balls across rather than pumping balls to him with his back to goal.
We need pace more than physicality if we’re looking to play this style week in/week out. If we can get a big strong fast striker, that would be ideal, but I think the speed element is more important than the strength.
If we are going to be getting more balls into the box (which appears to be the case) and they remain of the quality that Cadden and Cotter put in, I think there’s an argument for a big lad: Tedic would fit that bill or possibly even Michael Smith from Wednesday who will no doubt be departing in fairly short order. Preference would be Tedic on loan, i think there is a player in there.
Having seen a bit of training the other day, I think the balls into the box are low and hard between the defender and goalkeeper. We need someone who can beat the defender for pace with good finishing skills.
Unless it was outgoing he was referring to..... Personally I'd only sign a player to replace one that leaves. The younger players need a chance to prove themselves. If we can get one of the younger forward players out on loan (Marsh, Jalo, etc) then a loan would be a good option but I wouldn't just for the sake of it. Same applies in other key areas too. I still think at least 1 first team player will leave before now and the end of the transfer window. Styles is an obvious one plus maybe Williams or Kane given their contract situations. I assume we have players lined up if or when this happens.
Cole could be in that bracket too. The club doesn't like losing players for nowt. Anyone that isn't tied down could be gone.
Maybe so, but considering a lot of criticsim from last year was directed at Duff's lack of a plan B or plan C, it seems foolish to think that we won't need to modify our tactics at times during the season.
I agree with that but you can’t sign a top experienced striker and pay his wages for the time we might need a plan B. It’ll be a loan if Collins decides he doesn’t have a plan B which I suppose doesn’t have to be a big striker.
I'd be fine with a loan. And when do we ever sign "top, experienced strikers" with wages to boot. It will be interesting to see how opinions change when the 7-0 effect wears off after a few games...
Well considering we needed to sack the board and sign 5-6 when we lost against Leeds I think we had best hope the good form lasts until January.
Yeah. Good point. Have we got an option of another year with him? It'd be interesting what happens with him because he's a bit older (28) than most other players we have. He might need to cash in now and demand a move or we might try and keep hold of him (unlikely as that might sound!).
