Winfield sounded to have a mare on the radio commentary but he kept going until the end and his tenacity brought about the equaliser for Marsh.

Clear evidence that we need another Striker to replace Norwood. No physical presence up front in our current squad

Thought the young lads did themselves credit. Chapman was strong and tenacious and wouldn't look out of place in the first team. Unfortunately when all our midfielders are available we are so strong in that area of the pitch he will struggle to get a look in. Felt Winfield ran himself into the ground and deserved his contribution to the equaliser. But many times he failed to beat the first man and was bullied for their first goal. Not impressed with the new keeper flapped and didn't look that composed. Think we are weaker in the goal keeping dept than last year. For that young side to come back and take it to pens fair play. The game could have gone either way. Looked short up front. Get that physical striker in before the end of the window.

    Did Winfield struggle then?

He was constantly mentioned during the match and involved in a lot of the play. I liked his tenacity but he also sounded to be doing a lot wrong too. Radio commentator said he was timid.

I wasn't there but radio commentary can't be that far out can it?

I didn't go tonight, but as someone who slated Russell last year I'm glad to see him prove me wrong, especially with Connell being out for an unknown amount of time. He's clearly got the talent given that he started in a Championship playoff final for Huddersfield, and he's only 22 so if he finds consistency he could be a real asset.

The lad did OK, he is only young , both wing backs were not putting much quality balls in ,however winfield got an assist for the equaliser.
Chappers in the middle was outstanding.
Russell was oozing with experience and missed his presence when took off.
Overall good run out for the younger players.
Coach saving key players for Saturday.

Thought Cotter did ok actually. Some of the kids are way off playing first team, but we knew that anyway. But Jalo looked a handful - glad to have seen him.

Russell oozed class. He's so comfortable on the ball and played some fine passes. He got involved quite a lot too. When he was subbed, it seemed to me to suggest that Collins had decided he wasn't too fussed about our progressing tonight, as I couldn't see a flash of inspiration coming from anywhere else.

I thought Winfield played well but was clearly struggling near the end (with cramp), having nothing left in the tank (hardly surprising) - his crosses didn’t beat the defender at the end but what a good debut from him!

I certainly agree that we need a physical striker. The lack of one and lack of any real aerial challenge made the long throws seem pointless. I think Jalo should be getting some game time in the league. He showed far more in his short time on the pitch than all the other strikers. He's a real talent. I also agree about Killip. He wasn't pro-active and alert to what was going on - major strengths of Brad Collins- and his kicking was generally poor.

One thing that last night told me is unless he’s injured Roberts won’t lose his place to Killip he looked awful and way too small

Like others have said, Kane and Russell were a class above. Not too impressed by the keeper and Shaw just looks like a pointless signing. No way can he impact the first team. A good run out for the youngsters against a mens team, can only do them good in the long run.
