    Yeah, and they’ve started selling the chicken strips and chips that they do in the ponty end in the east stand this season as well.

    Not those pizza pocket things though as yet.

    I'm sorry but the word "scran" is a ******* weird middle-class affectation popularised by that most middle-class of activities, the food blog, to try and pass off their pukka working-class credentials. Besides that anyone from Barnsley should be calling it snap.

    Scran is a very old name for food in the Royal Navy. It maybe the case that what ever environment one finds oneself then you adapt to local language. Don't think its anything to do with class as all onboard knew what scran was.

    I always thought "scran" was a Manchester word, purely judging by which of my friends use it.

    A double quarter pounder with cheese from McDonalds is £5.39 now. £7.79 for a meal.
    And town centre pints in the posh new bit are £5.
    £11 seems about the going rate.

    It's funny, l was in NYC on New year's Eve and it was $8-$12 a bottle of beer in most places, I thought it was crazy, then in Paris in March and it was €10-€13 for a pint of the local French beer.

    Returned to tarn and paid a fiver a pint and l was over the moon!

    I've pretty much stopped drinking out and about in the UK on a regular basis, unless it's the odd pint with food. Lincoln seems to be particularly pricey, with £7 a pint being the norm for decent ale. Had a night out with the missus the other week and we were £150 down after a very unextravagant restaurant meal and a few beers afterwards. While I want to support local businesses, in particular pubs and restaurants, there's just no way I can justify that every weekend, especially when we have kids' activities and other stuff to consider. Although I agree that £5 for a pint of Salt in the Ponty seems like a great deal compared with many other places! Such a pity I'm almost always driving!

    I just say to the missus it's the going rate, went out to a steakhouse in Turkey last night, €23, Beer €5. The same place 4 years ago it was €7 for a fillet.... World's going crazy, not just at home.

    Blimey, that sounds a lot for Turkey. We were in Antalya at Easter and felt like absolute kings it was so cheap to eat out well.
