A good season for us, we get promoted and a side coming up to league 1 would no doubt put a bid in for him, or he could go on loan. We need his experience, short-sighted to let him go imo. And no he wouldn't have sulked about the place if we'd have kept him, he got on with the fans and his team mates. .
He scored 11 goals in 45 games for a team who finished 4th it's hardly great. I think last season if we had 2 prolific strikers we go up. We had the best midfield in the league in connell Phillips and kane. The wing backs were great. Anderson Thomas and kitch are all better than league one. Collins is now a championship player. 2 good strikers we get promoted especially when you look at games like burton away and charlton where we absolutely dominate create chane after chamce but can't score.
I agree but we’re now even worse off. If we don’t bring in another goalscorer I reckon we’ll struggle to impact the top of the table. Just hope the seven goals last week don’t paper over the cracks.
I don't think shaws going to score many if any in this league, watters needs to at least look like he's trying, Cole will score probably a similar amount 15/16 not sure about dallas took his header well 1st game but yet to start a game. Where iseka surely if he was interested he could score in this league.
Woodrow had one good season a few average ones and one in which he scored as many goals as kayode odejayi
It isn’t his goalscoring prowess that we are missing and will continue to miss. Only considering centre forwards as goal scorers and quoting how many he scored last season is short sighted in the extreme. His value can be measured by what else he provided. He didn’t score at wembley, but he was bloody outstanding. Today would have been much different had we had James Norwood available off the bench second half - or even to have started and played seventy minutes or so. Bristol Rovers centre halves could have gone for tea and cake second half today. They didn’t even know they were in a game.
I don't think woodrows a great striker especially not now but I think he would get 20 goals in this league that's why I used him as a example
I dont know how to post a reminder on here but if I did then I'd like us all to re-visit your opinion/ post in May 2024.
“It’s hardly great”. Are you being real?! Okay, Paul Wilkinson got 9 in 45 in the season we finished 2nd and went up. Derrick Parker and Trevor Aylott only got 11 each in 38 and 37 games respectively, when we finished 2nd and went up. Aylott only got 11 in 41 the following season when we were one win away from going up to the first division. Were those three ‘not great’ too, or are there other attributes to the role of a striker?
That's 11 goals and how ever many assists that haven't been replaced yet. As it stands our attack is weaker without him.
