You want us to sign a like for like replacement for Kich? To spend a minimum of 3 million quid on a championship standard left footed centre half who's willing to come and play third division for a fraction of the wages he can earn elsewhere? Good luck wi that.
NP SD. As I say I think he will do well but Ialso think that if we do bring inmore players that they will be loans.
The French lad is a right sided centre back. He's the replacement for Thomas. Lopata is Andersen's replacement. We don't have a replacement for Kitching. If he goes, our season disintegrates. We haven't replaced Norwood still. We are worse off defensively vs last season and also up front. The club has a lot of work to do this window to bring the strength in that we need and to hold on the players that are critical to a promotion push. Let's not kid ourselves. Time will tell over the next few weeks.
It might be a tad arrogant from me but I feel at this level we'd have to have a team of numpties coached by a total incompetent not to be in top six. Always chilled when we're in League 1. Nice going to Oakwell expectant rather than hopeful. I know we've no devine right to win but it's a nicer feeling.
I'm not too worried about Styles leaving TBH, I think he's playing like a player who doesn't want to get injured. Out of possession yesterday he was a passenger, making a token gesture that looked like he might be about to make a tackle but never doing it.
I think Styles was always expected to leave - helpful for us to have him now while Connell, Benson, Phillips, Wolfe and even Ackroyd are unavailable though. Quality player but surely he’s off
Why would like for like quality come to play league 1 when our quality players are going so they can increase their wages and play championship football? Surely players of the same quality are looking for a step up only. This year we have a league 1 budget this will rise when we have been promoted. If its best for club the players will leave and that is not always just a financial decision if a player wants to go and we get offered good money they will go. If we can afford to keep Kitching Styles Williams and they want to stay then they will stay. You need both they want to stay and we can afford them to stay. Its both not one or the other.
Collins says he will wait till after the Oxford game to have a meeting with our recruitment team regarding what we need I wouldn’t be waiting that long because it’s obvious from the day he left that we need a like for like replacement for Norwood and probably another centre half and a midfielder with the ability to go past a man .
You’re right, on another day we’d have scored a second goal yesterday. On that day the opposition will probably be three or four up though. The point we got yesterday shouldn’t be used to paper over the cracks of a poor performance, which the manager was toothless to change much during, due to the absolute lack of players with any professional games under their belt available from the bench. We have players to come back from injury, suspension and illness, of course we do - but it is also highly unlikely that we won’t sell at least one of the current starting team before the end of the window. We need to bring some players in.
Watters not yet shown he is likely to get the goals we need. Shaw except for the 20 minutes against Port Vale where there may have been a glimmer of hope and still he didn't score. Would love the club to make a statement if we sell Styles, Kitching or both by bringing in a striker who will lead the line. Guessing we are going down the loan route and waiting till the last minute. Get it sorted Barnsley frustrating having to start the season and the watching your team disappear before your eyes. Roll on the end of the transfer market.
I'm not sure why he'd be ruled out for longer than any other acl injury? Some posters on here seem to think they know better than the medical staff for some reason. I'm sure you can't wait for him to be back as you've always been so lavish with your praise.
Unfortunately Cole is a different player away from home as opposed to what he is at Oakwell. Good at home, below average away from home and so I genuinely don't think overall that the assessment Sam made is that wide of the mark upon closer examination. Of Devante's 16 goals last season, 13 came at Oakwell and 3 away from home. Over his time with us in total he now has 28 goals with 24 at home and just 4 away from home. He just doesn't seem to get into the positions for us away from home to hurt the opposition and/or run at people as he does at home. Maybe that's something that Jon Stead can work with him on.
Never knew that………maybe a new striker may be more useful away from home in place of Cole and have him come off the bench
