I get that. I just don’t think that things would have changed that much. You play once/twice a week and train a bit. You get paid A LOT, you have lots of free time, you could feasibly live up to a 2 hour commute away from Barnsley, which opens up about half the country. I’m just not buying it.
He was perpetually "injured" though. I don't think the Sunderland fans fully believed in his version of the truth!
It doesnt sound like thats the case based on todays press conference. When asked, Collins said he’s a bit behind fitness wise because hes been ill but is in consideration like anyone else. Its about 6mins in if anyone wants a listen.
Similar to comments Duff made last season before Iseka eventually left. There’s no way he’s going to play for us again I reckon. Seeing as he’s one of our highest paid players we ought to be looking at using him. Can’t see him offering any less than Watters or Shaw. Unless it’s a contractual thing whereby it would cost us more money to actually play him.
If only there was some way of getting game time ........ Pre-season friendlies or something. (Would he have made the bench if 'ill'?)
It would be much easier for us to sell him if he was playing and scoring goals, he's hardly had a fair crack at it and was no worse than Woodrow when we were relegated.
