Playing alright, Peterborough have shaded it but all to play for in the second half Watters should be coming off. Putting in no effort and looks disinterested. Can cope with a lack of skill but not a lack of effort
Watters is doing little to convince me he’s the answer to any question other than who should be fifth choice centre forward. Russell has looked a little better tonight, aside from a couple of moments. Could have been 2-0 or 0-2 quite easily. I’ll take 0-0 for now overall. I honestly think we played much better in that half than we did the first half v Port Vale, where we led 2-0. Some defensive issues, maybe stronger if De Gevigney comes into the back three, and move Williams to RWB - Cotter is ok offensively (he’d be very good if he had the confidence to have a go instead of come backwards half the time), but defensively he’s below the required standard at the moment. But overall against a side that I expect will be there or thereabouts we’ve more than held our own.
Two and half matches now, where Watters has been completely anonymous. Bringing nothing to the team right now for me. Needs to massively improve his game.
Could be 2 up , 2 down or 2 a piece. Concern for me is that we seem to lack the control and organisation we had last season. We certainly won’t go up without that. Perhaps understandable given the disruption, and it will settle down in 10 games or so. Russell having his best game for us I would say. Roberts / Cadden outstanding. Ref having a good game apart from his slightly 2 minute mad spell at the end of the first half
Personally I think it’s a well balanced game between two good teams. One of which lost their manager, their goalkeeper and key centre half, with others injured or suspended.. Without a decent pre season ( which we didn’t have), you have got to allow time things to gel , it doesn’t just ‘happen’,.
Playing too dam deep against a decent side We need to go about the second half much like the washdays did to stop them playing Press press and more press coyr
You think he was a great striker at league one level? The fact Norwood has never played higher than league one tells you all about his ability. More of a grafter.
I’d say this is about right. I think Russell has been very decent though. I think Watters is just not used to our style of play yet.
It’s Collins way to play deeper with two deeper lying midfielders and a ‘10’ in front, behind two up top. 3-4-1-2 It isn’t to my taste, I think we are better suited to the 3-5-2 Duff adopted, but I’m not the manager and he’s unbeaten in the league so far - so what do i know?
Bit sensitive aren't you. A player who scored 11 in 45 would struggle in the championship also. But watter is looking a massive downgrade..early days though.
IMHO we look very good with the ball but very weak without it. We're missing players, Connell being the biggest loss, but I think it's more about the shape. We play with basically 5 up front. The two wing backs and Styles push right up, so when we lose the ball we're outnumbered at the back so quickly.
