If Collins continues making as many tactically inept decisions as he did tonight and/or contine to encourage the team to 'sit back' when taking the lead, then he will be sacked by Christmas
The only thing you can say for him tonight is; it was clear that substitutions were required for both the ineffective Watters and the tiring Russell, but as people have been saying since the start of the season, the board's recruitment and selling has left him with a bench that is laughably ill equipped to help him out. Yes we had Phillips on there today lifting the quality but we needed a striker and a holding midfielder. So he brought on the two substandard strikers he had and five minutes later we were 2-1 down.
OK. But the worrying thing for me was that their play was virtually always coming through their player who was sitting in the gap between our defenders and midfield, and who was very effective. But nothing appeared to be done to address it.
We have the best DM in the league, when he's fit and available. Sadly we don't have anyone capable of filling that void whilst he's not at the minute. I just think predicting a manager will be sacked by Christmas after 1 defeat is a bit of a stretch.
I meant he would probably get sack if he continues to make mistakes like the ones he has made over the last 3 games.
Big gaps between our players killed us offensively and defensively . The only thing that made us look competitive is the quality of our players.
I’m with you on that. The last thing this club needs is another change of management. I’m just making the point that we didn’t appear able to either appreciate, or do anything about, their player who was dictating play. Or perhaps he was just too good.
Its a bit of an over reaction to suggest that at this early stage. But if Collins does indeed keep making those careless errors of judgement, then I doubt if he will even last till December. A-la Schopp!!.
I desperately want him to be successful. Hopefully a positive performance and result on Saturday will dispel some of my fears
My main worry about Collins, is that in all of the post match interviews that I have read this evening is that the 2nd half capitulation was all down to poor decisions made by the players and not down to poor decisions that he has made tonight. He should at least take some responsibility.
Nahh I think keeping us going and out of debt is what they are looking for, still for another season at least. And then it will be back to square one again if Collins does get sacked, and can they afford that.
Did I imagine it or did Collins say the other week he'd sit down with the recruitment team after the Oxford game, I'd be knocking door down in the morning
