Do we still need a striker in to replace Norwood?

Didn't Khalid say we don't like the direct style.. because we don't get any offers for our players. Even if said players we're in the championship play offs (mi doesn't that seem a long time ago now). Playing out from the back is the future like it or not.

Defending does start from the front we pressed well 1st half when posh were trying to play out from the back. But not been goal side, not picking up men, giving free headers away is basic stuff.

 

Funny you say that as Cole and Norwoods partnership was often cut short by duff dropping Norwood for tedic in the 2nd half of the season. And got a hat trick but flattered to deceive? He got motm in Jimmy's thread in the ground and infact all the write ups I've seen. He's not anywhere near the best striker I've seen at oakwell but he's good enough for this league, sadly I can't say the same as yet for watters, dallas or Shaw.

 

In answer to the original question - yes we do.

 

Don't get me wrong mate, I would play Cole over Watters every day of the week. If it were champ man - which it's not - and if i were the gaffer - which I'm not - I'd chuck Jalo in alongside him for the whole season I reckon he'd tear it up. If you're good enough, you're old enough.

 

I think Jalo should be playing in the first team now. Last night made me even more certain.

 

Don't get the clamour to throw Jalo in at all. The kid is 17 and not strong enough for L1 football yet.
It's not as if he's built like a David Hirst or a Jon Parkin at his age. He'd just get bullied out of it.

 

Two strikers needed, not just one. Shaw & Dallas clearly not good enough. Watters flattering to t, Cole our best striker but he’s average at this level.

 

Not a chance we'll get two. Might get one if we're lucky and I've a sneaky feeling it'll be Tedic back on loan.

Im all for giving people time, in fact in time I think Dallas might be a decent signing. But we need players for the here and now who can slot straight in.
That’s why we’ll struggle this season, signing too many non league gambles hoping we can find a gem, when in reality such players need time to adjust making a big step up. If you’re happy with that then that’s fine, but personally i would like us to get promoted at the earliest opportunity.

 

Problem is, once they’ve been given time and they deliver, they are sold. The model is the issue in my opinion.

That was actually Khaled that said that, was from same interview where he stated the season under Ismael where we ended up in Championship playoffs was a failure as we didn’t sell any players.

 

Yes and this is the fundamental problem at the club, the whole model is a long term failure. I honestly thought things were slowly changing last season, especially after Neerav’s open meeting where he stated we are focusing primarily on winning football matches. But nothing seems to have changed, it’s just the same old.

 

He a young lightweight kid,I will go as far as to say lad won’t play higher than league 2 as regular starter ,hope he gets in premier but imho he over rated,only my opinion but time will tell

 

It's always a risk when they're so young, but I'd prefer him over Shaw and Dallas. And Watters for that matter. We've got a real talent, we should utilise it.
