Didn't know we were playing, what was the final score?

Exactly, plus he tucks his shoulder and makes contact with the head as he has done time and time again in his career.

It's Farrell's responsibility to fix his tackle technique and stop endangering the opposition. The book should be thrown at him as he has so much previous.

He went on a video disciplinary hearing as required by the IRU. He didn’t raise an appeal. He hasn’t undermined the bunker review. The IRU has done that to itself.

Farrell and the RFU - as is the case in any such proceedings - were asked for any evidence in mitigation during the meeting. It was shown that contact from Jamie George initiated a significant change in direction from Basham prior to Farrell’s tackle and the Australian panel saw that as sufficiently mitigating to warrant a yellow card rather than red.

You’re just trying to fulfil your anti-English tendencies by blaming the wrong people for the outcome.

I agree it wasn’t a great tackle, I was surprised they overturned the red card. But you can’t blame Farrell or the RFU for it. It wasn’t their doing. I suspect this isn’t the last we hear of it anyway, and that there may be an appeal from the summer nations series organisers or the IRB itself against the findings.

Either way, ranting about English rugby is wide of the mark. If English rugby was that bad I don’t suppose Wales would select English players to play against England… Henry Thomas even has test caps for England!

Taff - You’ll probably be entertained by the fact that I have tickets for the game at twickenham against Fiji on 26th August and have trains booked - and that there’s a rail strike across the board on 26th so the trains are all unlikely to be running.

It’s an early birthday treat for my eldest, he turns 16 on 6 September, so we still need to go. National Express and mega bus isn’t viable due to timings so I’ll have to do a seven hour round trip drive, and pay about £50 to park on someone’s drive in or around TW1.

Stunning. Can’t even have my usual Guinness quota. I don’t even really like Guinness but it seems different at the rugby.

We always used to park near Royal Oak pub on road and walk down side of river, 10 minute walk

The English players play for England and the Welsh players play for Wales. I hope that helps. ;)

Just been announced that World Rugby have appealed the decision to overturn the red card.
It will now go to an independent committee.

Not sure about this but I think the appeal is NOT based on whether or not Farrell's tackle was illegal.
The appeal questions whether a 'Bunker Review' decision can be challenged at a later date regardless of whether or not it was the correct decision ??

Rugby Admin is finally taking steps to clamp down on what they call the 'Head Contact Process' - too many rugby players experiencing health problems in later life. If Farrell given the all clear likely that head contact challenges will continue unpunished.

Not sure, but the following paragraph is from the report in the above link.

"It's understood World Rugby's case will hinge on whether Farrell's challenge was always "illegal" because of his tucked right arm. If that is the case he wouldn't be entitled to any mitigation, and a red card - and therefore a ban - would be the correct outcome."
