Forgive my ignorance but I never associated Canada with fire to be honest. I thought it was white over most of the time with snow and very inhospitable like Alaska.
Me too. I'm no geography expert but I imagine a significant part of what is on fire must be in or near the Arctic circle?
The ice caps are melting at an alarming rate. Canada & the northern American states are the most obvious measures for global warming. & it’s not a natural phenomenon, despite what the right wing rags would have you believe..
Everyone knows I’m a boring, pain in the arse tree hugger. I hate preaching, but fcking hell? People complaining about football parking, when the world is on fire? Good. I hope Barnsley make it even harder. Get the fcking bus..
I shouldn’t have to mate, it’s glaringly fcking obvious. I was in two minds whether to go to football today. Still have this horrible cold, I probably caught at the Only Ones gig 2 weeks back. Or the funeral I went to earlier that day. Shenk1’s partner Kim. They’re together again, somewhere..
Was in Alaska a couple of months ago. Huge swathes of woodland were burnt-out. Parts of it looked apocalyptic.
One place other than NZ I would love to live, did Edmonton, Jasper and Calgary in Alberta, boiling in the summer about _30 in winter, Jasper in the Rockies was outstanding, have a NHS, judicial system very similar to the uk, not all gung totting loons like there southern neighbours and tbh they're not that fond of them, we spent time on the prairies, bone dry but very little in the way of people out there to cause havoc regarding fire, don't know how these current ones have started but no doubt down to the human factor and negligence
In usual circumstances, fire is the planet’s great enamour. Promotes renewal & regrowth. It’s savage when it happens, but necessary. Modern science can usually predict when this might naturally occur. But these recent fires aren’t a natural earth sequence.. Mrs C lives on Long Island, New York. & the sun gets blotted out by smoke drifting down from Canada. She can smell it in the air & she swears, the stench of burned animals..
